I was wondering if anyone had seen ST Excalibur recently, i check it every so often just to see if its come out yet, because im interested in it, especially the fact that it has its own engine and there fore i dont need to by any other game.
Anyway the concept always interested me, and it looks like they are still going strong
heres the link: ST Excalibur Portal | About
I sure hope it comes out soon, as id love to play it, but I have no idea how much more they had to do before they can release it and when that would be.

Oh my gawd! I've seen weapons fire! I've seen weapons fire! There is progress. Creating a platform for ongoing development by third parties is the right way and the only good chance so this project grows further (if there is no CBS comming to assimilate it).

They've been working on it for about two years now atleast. And yes it is basically BC2. It will be very modder friendly when they release the first version.

Yeah, Excalibur is going to be awesome. It's basically just a hybrid BC/EF with much more detail and accuracy than anything else done (that I've heard of, at least). The team is incredibly talented and competent.

I'm surprised this community hasn't seen too much of Excalibur, I thought the team had made inroads into all Star Trek gaming communities about it. It's being made by some of BC's most elite modders, since BC is pretty much at its limits as to what can be done to it (legally). It's going to be awesome, sort of like a cross between Bridge Commander and Elite Force, although I hear some SFC and Klingon Academy concepts are being included as well.
I read an interview Mark gave saying that the current projected release date would likely be sometime late next year, though don't take that as written in stone. One way or another it's going to be a while before you see it that much I know for certain. Here's a link to that interview:
PlayHard > In English > Star Trek: Excalibur. Interview with Luiz Amaral & Mark Ward
He also frequently talks about the project on Hailing Frequency if anyone wants to poke around there.

i doubt we'll see excalibur for a long time, and even if it does reach an open beta i doubt my old computer will be good enough for it.

they also made this here. But as usual the topic died after a while. Im also looking forward to it, but i think the modders should take emself enough time to finish it, they dont need to rush to a release date.
Edit: Thats the old topic: Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Bridge Commander Successor?

Oh they're definitely NOT rushing a release date, like I said late next year was just the projected possible release time given to the interviewer and should in no way be taken as written in stone. They're taken their time and doing it right, that's how these guys operated with Bridge Commander and they're not changing for Excalibur.Brother Gabriel wrote:but i think the modders should take emself enough time to finish it, they dont need to rush to a release date.
