The Galileo Restoration Project
The original filming set of the Galileo, the shuttlecraft seen in the TOS episode "The Galileo Seven", has been in storage for 20 years and is in poor shape.
The project has the aim of winning the auction currently running for it, and meticulously restoring it to its original glory for the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. Once those festivities are over, it will be donated to a museum that agrees to house and display it for all fans to enjoy.
If they win the auction, they intend to raise the funds for the restoration via Kickstarter, so keep an eye on the main site and on Kickstarter for more news.

i thought i heard years ago that it was thrown into a skip and some guy picked it out (in pieces) didnt know what happened to it after that tho.
(i also thought it was converted to the movie version then skipped)
its a shame stuff like this gets trashed or sold to go in some private space. i always think its nice for memorabilia to be seen by the public in a museum so its good to know this is going to be attempted.

According to that website, it's been missing for years... Has it been found and that part's not in the history article?

The history articles may be reposts from other sources; the news items specific to the site don't seem to talk about it having been "missing".
In case anyone is interested and wealthy enough to bid, the auction ends on Thursday.
