Sounds like a great idea

True, but its pretty hard to get a game object to move realistically, and even harder to make the movement smooth. The same way a character can get stopped on a small rock that wouldn't phase an actual person. My point being its hard to make movement work well, and I think Fleetops did a pretty good job of it considering

I always thought it was just kind of an assumption that the pods were some kind of torpedo launcher. Personally i thought that pulse cannons would be more interesting. However i do want to see the return of the triloader.

I've always liked the idea of some super sensor pods or something  . Why does everybody like a warlike Federation  :sweatdrop:

What about implamentation as a Hybrid/support middle slot warpin?
Being as theres 3 pods and all.... i could think of sereral uses.

one would be target scanners, i.e. the remore ability only a sorrta fleet boost effect, maybe 10% incrase to weapons rate,

Or particle projectors, givin a little extra speed to help slow warpins escape. (i.e. projects lighter than vacum warp bubble aruond target ship allowing faster impulse speeds)

Holo-emitters maybe? simulate a bigger warpin fleet?

Because we are playing a war simulation :p dom plus we already have the super sensors. Im ok with them being something else i just dont want them to be torpedo tubes. After all the Feddies are not really at a lost for torpedo boats right now.

How about pulses?  I always loved those blue pulses on the miranda mk2, or even red pulses..... or maybe a point defense system of some sort, shoot down incoming torps?  decrease torp hit rate by maybe 10 percent? and that could be a cool visual!

What about making those pods something like launchers for various probes? I mean you hear all the time about Starfleet shooting probes all over the place, maybe the New Orleans could fire probes that reveal parts of the map from anywhere by launching a probe in that general area, or maybe a probe that sends out a false sensor reading that looks like a enemy fleet attacking.

Now the real question is, will the New Orleans have saucer separation?  :D

Same here, it fits much better for a TNG-era ship.

Beats me, the peaceful ones are already monsters at fighting... they don't need to be warlike.

Kill and overkill, Tyler. Kill and overkill.
And because they're hardly peaceful. Quark knew his stuff.
Not to mention they're more fun this way.

That's because peace is just too boring, why do you think people go to war all the time?

But there's no fun in them being warlike; the peaceful ones can kick almost anyones ass, so they'd get no challenge if they were actually focused on war.

Starfleet had some tactical ships to threats like the Borg. It would be very wise to have some defenses to keep the peace.

Yes, but their peace is just part of their master plan. They get a bunch of peaceful races together, take and combine all their resources, and wait for all the warlike ones to wipe each other out... then they go chaotic and conquer the entire sector without anyone to oppose them. :)

The Borg are the only ones who caught on to this scheme, and went to Earth to try and save the other races from the evil human plot... and look how that turned out. One malfunctioning translator and they get the impression that for some reason you'd want to take over their entire quadrent :D
