Need advice on Borg

What's your favourite episode? How is romulan ale brewed? - Star Trek in general :-)

I'm making a map for Starcraft II called Star Trek Armada III and I'm stumped as to what is acceptable with borg design philosophy. I know they use simple geometricc shapes, but there are only so many shapes out there. Also, I'm unsure of what Borg tactics would be, build up a huge fleet, assimilate everything? Please leave advice in the comments.

Starting Idea: I decided to use the Pyramid as a ship that can tank damage and babysit outposts. Let me know what you all think.

Borg generally favor cubes, spheres, and occasionally dodechahedrons and diamonds. They have a few designs that aren't symmetrical but the vast majority are. Borg tend to have small fleets of overly powered ships, and generally assimilate lone or small groups of vessels and attack the larger groups that won't be assimilated as easily and pose a potential threat to the Collective. As always though, their top priority is improving themselves and attaining perfection, so research would be a large part of their resources.

I like your idea, good luck on it

Thank you. Based on your input I have arrived at a new idea. The Borg Collective will use a good deal of powerful vessels that are fairly expensive, to offset this they should search out unwary ships and assimilate them, thus bringing more firepower to the Collective and unlocking a Borg-enhanced version of the assimilated ship. Research will also be a large part of their power. The more they assimilate, the more powerful their modules become.

Sounds pretty good, let me know how it goes.

I planned on replacing the Borg Probe or one of the smaller ships with the Arctic One. My version has a large module shaped like a Harmonic Defender on the side (HDs look like giant missile racks). Would the addition of this ship be within Borg philosophy?

I thought the Arctic One was pretty cool in that episode, but itd not be something that was generally mass-produced and would be more of an 'assimilated' vessel. Maybe it could be a unique feature for capturing an enemy station or other vessel; relatively powerful, but few in number. Ultimately itd be up to you, but it wouldn't fit well under the Borg building parameters.

With that said, I'll gear it so the Borg assimilate a station and recieve the option to make an extremely enhanced version of one of the host ships albeit in a borg hull, acting somewhat as the Collective's "National Guard". As for what fits in, I thought it made more sense for the Borg to have a slight shift in mindset, such as mass-producing a vessel that doesn't quite fit in to gain an advantage.
