So, its no surprise that hes throwing out the idea of a new Trek tv series.

“I don’t know who would give me the keys to that car,” he jokes, acknowledging that the films have been so profitable for Paramount that he isn’t so sure they have a lot of interest in getting back into the TV business. “But I’d love to see that franchise revived for television in the way that it was in the 1990s: very thoughtful, smartly written stories that transcend the science fiction audience.”

While I'm not a big fan of Macfarlane's newer work, I have said, for years, that a new Trek series needs to be done.  DS9 was absolutely fantastic.  Voyager was eh......Enterprise....well the few episodes I've seen were horrible (don't worry, I'll watch them all b4 the year's over! :-p )

I thought the same about DS9 that you feel about ENT and VOY before I cared to watch them all. I mean the worst of Trek was definately DS9 season 1. xD So watch them all mate faster faster! ENT really grows on you and VOY has the Borg and a woman in a catsuit. What else do you need to have a little entertainment? xD
