Greatly Unused plot

What's your favourite episode? How is romulan ale brewed? - Star Trek in general :-)

Ok, I just watched the Voyager episode: Threshold - the one where Paris goes past Warp10.

Paris and Janeway, as superevolved humans bred.

Then the offspring are just left on the planet.

Why the hell was this never re-approached as a story?

Well other than the end of Voyager as a series and Enterprise being a prequel.

....because Voyager liked to raise more questions that it liked to answer them  .

True. Well to be fair the whole episode raises lots of questions but I just like the idea of a weird spin off of Star Trek

If I remember correctly, that episode was actually removed from canon due to severe scientific flaws, horrible fan reaction, and general dislike by the production staff.

I'm surprised they didn't do that for more episodes frankly  :sweatdrop: . That's just my personal opinion though - I just wasn't a big fan of Voyager.

EDIT: typo...

Why the hell was this never re-approached as a story?  The answer is....
Starfleet, and Janeway , Did not want  the knollage that a crew  member had sex with the  captain. and since they were a sentient lifeform they could not interfere with their development of the new species.

I think i read somewhere else on these forums, the best reason for removing that episode from continuity: If the doctor can turn the lizard-people back to human anyways, why not use the warp-10 engines on Voyager to just get back to Earth? The series would be over once they'd all shed their scales  :whistling:

Ok since you've all put forth a brilliant argument against a continuation of superevolved human things; I'll admit defeat on this one.

However, same episode:

Infinate velocity concept ie, Nucleonic Electron theory and greatest quantum mechanics problem ever.

Being everywhere at once.

I sense this could be a massive step towards Q-ism.

Interesting?

Lol, there is the retcon. It was Q's nightmare.
(all those boring humans being Qs...)

lol, Q's nightmare
I could just see all these humans trying to impose their morals and ethics on Q...
Q - Hey! Let's blow up that star!!!
Humans - Woa woa woa...I think that there's one single-celled organism that is on the 6th planet from the sun....you can NOT touch it!!!

I'd say that if the Borg -rejected- the technology, there's probably a good reason.  The Borg have better power systems, better drive systems, and know damned well what happens if you try to break that barrier.  It's why they have transwarp.

Remember, you also get stuck in 'everywhen' as well as everywhere.  Not so good for doing much of anything, thanks to the inherent temporal paradoxes.

In my opinion Threshold is the WORST Star Trek episode ever. Not only Voyager, but Star Trek in general.

I'm inclined to agree. It asks too many questions and because it is Voyager it never answers them or goes back to them.

I'm starting to understand the hostility towards Voyager.

But the "armour" in the final episode is freaking awesome
