the problem is that the ai hard cheats like hell and he always seems to build fully promoted ships

If you know how AI works, really they know everything, so the can't cheat.  It just has the ability to tell its miners to Mine, builders to build, Shipyards to build, and research stations to research all at the same time. :sweatdrop: It is extremely efficient :borg:

Actually, it doesn't build or mine in the same way a human player controlled race does. Even though tritanium and dilithium are mined, the computer doesn't need resources to build. Likewise, watch the Borg AI and see how it builds ships and nodes etc. I think also ship build times are excelerated, but I could be wrong on that one. Still, the AI gets a lot of advantages so at least it can compete a little with a human player. Still, it is no substituted, and thus... sadly... it is too easy to beat.

The AI does need resources, often in stock I see AI manned shipyards with a vessel in the build list that isn't building. That only happens when you lack whats needed. Other times, they don't build at all, when I check in map editor they have almost no resources and build when I increase them.

I doubt that has been changed in FO.

I'm fairly certain they don't use resources (although for their tech tree, they need mining facilities I believe). If you want to test it that way, rather than looking at the code, kill off all the mining for a Romulan AI except for one pair, then watch it build loads of Generixs, Leahvals, etc...

Or you could just think about how often the AI spams TacCubes at you with only 3 mining outposts.

I think Redmanmark can corroborate this though.

I doubt the game is programmed to stop building when it has no resources.

Noticed that too. :sweatdrop:

Either way they still have a serious advantage.  Oh, well I'm not complaining.  I'm just trying to find a fair way to beat them.

If you want to play an online game against 3 allied AI's I can show you. I don't mean to make you feel bad, but the AI really needs to be A LOT harder. Even with all their advantages, they still bite the big one.

The fact that they are still easily beatable, to anybody, means they are definitely too easy.

Ahhh, ok, I thought you meant you were having a hard time beating the AI with the remark " I'm just trying to find a fair way to beat them." So what do you mean by "fair" then?

I can Beat them "Other ways"  :D I just wanted to see how you guys did it.  Also, I meant it shouldn't be easy for anybody.  :innocent:

well the only way that they are a challenge is if there are several of them...
