It's a little known fact, but Federation starships actually runs Windows Server Ultimate version 2108. This is unfortunately due to a budgeting error on the part of Starfleet which suddenly realized that they could no longer pay their programmers to develop the LCARS system and thus opted for the cheaper method of placing an LCARS interface on top of Windows while hoping that most officers would never notice the change or any minor errors and praying that the system would remain stable even under times of stress. It would appear that Data caught it on a bad day.
