What's your favourite episode? How is romulan ale brewed? - Star Trek in general :-)

Im just watching episode 26 season 5 of Deep Space 9 and it is strange that the Klingons and the Federation got only two ships to defend the station. Its the Defiant and a Bird of Prey. And the Romulans signed a non-aggression pact with the Dominion.
Some episodes earlier (S05 E14 & E15) the station expected an attack and there was a fleet of Klingons, Romulans and the Federation (i think about 50 ships).
Which idiot wrote that plot?

Do you really think, that all ships are de-cloaked and every time avaible?
I did'nt watched the episode and did'nt know if it was attacked, but for this point (only) you mentioned:
If there is'nt a direct assault but you are aware of "there could be one" I would NOT let the whole fleet wait on a certain point, I would spead it around the station:
When the enemy fleet comes, you dont know from where. And: IF the flet would come, you will loose immedeatly the initiative if you stay in defense formation. DS9 is able to defend itself pretty well and I would rather split up my fleet and set it around the station to have multiple tactical go-on-points. So you can attack the enemy from behind, hold up a withdraw-point if you are outnumbered, hold on a path for reinforcements, be able to re-attack from two or more points at a time, be able to shuffle your fleet and re-coordinate it with changing battle-situations, send scouts to the outer border to scan for assasination-attacks and so on.
Also, the klingon fleet you did'nt saw might be cloaked. Why having a cloaking device when you dont use it?
BUT I did'nt saw that episode now, so, when these ships WERE actually the whole defending line, this is some kind of... ehm... brainless.

The Klingons wanted to take DS9 and kill the Cardassian leaders on DS9. They attacked with a big fleet (and lost a lot of ships).
I think you mentioned the episode where the minefield is layed.
The Feds don't want to defend DS9 because they can't. They advance ordered backwards while the Doms rush forward disordered.
They just want to lay the Minefield, regroup and fight. I think the Defaint and the Bird of Pray will meet a big fleet after retreating.
DS9 will change the owner without a fight.

Sisko also says that while the Dominion was busy attacking DS9, a joint Federation-Klingon task force invaded Dominion territory and destroyed their shipyards on Torros III. The Federation priority at DS9 was to get the wormhole mined to prevent more Jem'Hadar ships from coming through the wormhole from the Gamma Quadrant, not to keep control of the station. Once that objective was accomplished, there was no reason for them to risk the destruction of a significant portion of their fleet that could be put to better use elsewhere in the quadrant.
