So I've been re-watching a lot of TNG and I noticed that in "Descent I and II" the Borg Adaptor vessel is of an enormous size. It's vastly larger than the Enterprise and more powerful.
Anyone know why the Devs decided to keep it smaller? Not that I mind, of course, I'm all for the Borg having smaller ships that change the gameplay around. I actually can't remember if the Adaptor is in the Stock versions of either Armada game ....

It's in the stock versions, and is about the same size as in FO, I believe.

I never liked it. Never Never. The only Borg vessel not made of a geometric design and always without explanation. I have always believed that the model was made by Dan Curry because they:
A. Had the "Rogue Borg" operating an assimilated vessel they stole from another culture and adapted to their own uses (including transwarp capabilities).
B. They just hadn't really decided that the Borg were a geometrically perfect shipbuilding race. Thus the model was not really given the thought it deserved.
Either way ... the Borg Adaptor or "Assimilator" as I recall it being in Armada 1 and 2 now never really sat well with me. I dun like it.

I never really liked the Adapter to be honest... when it replaced the awesome A1 Assimilator model in A2 I was naturally pissed. I always considered the Adaptor or whatever it's called as an assimilated vessel of some sort that Lore commandeered with his rouge borg rather then a ship constructed by the collective. I guess it's no surprise that I've never once built an Adapter in FO

Yea, I only remember ever seeing that model twice. Once was in the Descent (1 and 2) episodes, and the other was in Voyager. In the 2 part episode Scorpion, where 7 of 9, and species 8472, are both introduced, the same model is used briefly in referance to a gravitic mine, which could supposedly spread modified nanoprobes over several starsystems. Janeway talks the collective out of it by mentioning they didnt have enough nanoprobes to even arm the thing and wouldnt for several weeks.
Ok, Im starting to sound like data, way too much info.
On the other hand, tactically speaking, the adaptor is quite cost effective in FO, especially if used as a distraction with mixed tech armor.

I don't see it as cost-effective when you have to capture the tech, build the yard before you can even outfit the Adaptor with it's adaption

Since seeing Scorpion in Voyager, I've always imagined Lore's ship as actually being a Borg multikinetic neutronic mine that had been stolen and converted into a ship by the Rogue Borg and Lore. That's the best explanation I came up with for that ship. I don't like the Adapter though and as such, I never build it.
