Video Card questions

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Hi, I just wanted to make sure in reference to another post I made, but Star Trek Legacy doesn't work right on my computer. It skips and lags, and is just too slow to be playable. I have an nvidia FX 500, but that is just not good enough. Star Trek DAC also doesn't work. All it does show the various company logos and wont open. Would this card be good enough?

for legacy get the mod that turns off the nebulae, it will increase the speed of the campaign a lot

DAC is just newer and will need good hardware

Star Trek: Legacy No Nebula Mod for PC Games

instructions are all there i think. it was easy to use for me. i think its just replacing some files with new ones.

Well, I am no computer genius, I have no idea what half of anything is or what is which, I just would like a powerful video card that could run those games well, and that one my brother recommended is a deal. I guess if it works I will buy it over the summer.

you have suggested two AGP cards, it appears you have an old AGP connector, it may be wise to buy a new computer to get the advantages of PCI-e, that way in future you can upgrade further. AGP will soon die out.

I agree with myleswolfer If you rig is more than five years old  time to think about plannning for a new one. My self I am runnning a mother board / vid.  card  combo that is over 6 years old. I plan to get  a new one soon since the CPU  I have  is the biggest I can  place in it  for this board. Memory is the fastest I can use is DDR133Mhz. Right now stuck at a 1Ghz processor, and  some times game play really suffers in large battles since everything  gets  laggy and  vid drops in quality severely.
