Oh! Guys, guys guys! I have... made a terrifying discovery. It was... shocking and .. really, really .. horrible! All of you should ask yourself "How could this happen?!", I mean, I am shocked!!
(.>)
Anyways, the discovery...
This forum..
does not..
have...
a Kudos thread!
How could this be?
No mandatory kudos/say-something-positive/well-wishing thread at all! (unless Im blind and haven't seen it <.<).
So, I thought... that needs to change! And went ahead and started one.
So here we go!
Kudos to the people of yesterday's late-night game, you know who you are, you are all awesome! It was chaotic, hilarious (almost killing a constructor with a lone scout!
) and very educational.
Thank you and I hope to see you all again soon!
edit: Oh! And Moderator? Please, please sticky this thread, thank you!

Sounds like a good idea to me. Kudos to RedManMark for finishing his perimeter 5 seconds before I was gonna snipe it last night. Kudos to the enemy team for finishing the game with 20 spheres (our team only had 12ish before the last battle)
Good game all around.
Good game all around.

kudos for all the devs and staff
needless to say
great job guys

kudos to myles for letting me know how to use the map editor in game properly, making one of my latest threads henceforth effectively redundant
not that I'm saying map editor has never been explained before... but I guess it was the first time I ever saw control e, had always thought map editor was selected in the main menu previous to games to remake maps, not during game.
if it was previously mentioned blatantly by someone earlier, that would be most unfortunate... as now my literacy is under question for reading comprehension...
as a result, i've played some of my first games with mckinley yards. confused about what the unity station is for... an overpowered sensor station... star base size with no weapons? and i can auto set a couple of mining stations and miners for the start. something i always like to see in the a1 and a2 for starting a mission was preset economy.

the unity station is from another game, where the alpha quadrant main races became chummy and built it i think.
in game i think its a placeholder, not supposed to be in real games, like the steamy, they're just left in map editor since it would probably be more work to remove them.
ive toyed with the idea of editing common maps to include mining at the start.
i dont think it can be put on player teams with crew, as those get wiped at the start, so it would have to be uncrewed derelict mining. but then we have the issue of which race's mining it is. i considered making it romulan mining, as rom mining is weak and doesnt have much going for it without cloaking gen. klink miners are a definite no because of ktinga, dom miners are strong, borg miners are really strong too. fed miners would probably work too, they are not too strong, but then the roms end up with better miners.
so basically the borg would end up with horribly weak main base mining just like every race, and hence the borg would lose an advantage, that they are harder to raid early on.

yeah no worries about the mining. i can understand the balancing problems. but with map editing, makes it nice at least for your starbase moons. still can do your own expanding, but at least gives you a couple extra seconds to devote to research, and yards.
also noticed the premonition and prometheus. nice to see the temporal ability available in fleet ops. no stats, pictures, or rank ups for these ships though I take it? like when you hover over or select them...
what else did i see. ferengi ship. i can't remember the other ones in that tab. breen cruiser maybe. but yeah
interesting to see the costs that were decided for all the warping too. kinda gives new light on them. imagining now what it could cost to build those ships, instead of warping them in for free.
just goes to show, always have new stuff to learn about.

yup, several map editor ships have some cosmetic things missing, no tooltip values for example. afaik its the prommie, premonition and romulan delevas (proto serkas). there might be a couple others too.
the prommie has working (if not spectacular) mvam. it works like the vanilla saucer sep, you get 3 mini ships to order about as you please. the mvam button is there, just its transparent. its where you would expect specials to be, just to the right of all the other buttons.
many of these ships also dont have ranks, they wont crash the game when levelup is used though, they just wont rank.
the ferengi marauder is a bit more complete, i believe, still no ranks, but it can actually be used as a good map object.
last time i checked the breen npc ships (both cruiser and battleship are there) are the same as the breen avatar built ships. so they are complete.

if a mod wants to split replies 6, 7 and 8 off into another thread, i'd have no objections. sorry for cluttering your thread.

It's from Starfleet Command three, which I believe is post dominion war era, klinks/feds build a starbase together that's capable of detecting cloaked ships, the roms blow it up before it goes active.
Kudos for creating one of the best mods for an old game that wasnt that good to start with so I could nitpick them :p
