Saucer Separation.

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Okay just to clear some things up.

I do not support saucer seperation for fleetops.  It is pointless, and does not serve to better the galaxy class in any way.  All it would be is a waste of time and coding, when there are much more important things to do.  If it ever made its way into fleetops i would be indifferent, but i am against taking the time to add saucer seperation to this game.

My name is ray320, and being of sound mind, i repeat, i am against saucer seperation in game.

Isn't Saucer Seperation pointless in all Star Trek games, at least Armada II (not sure about Legacy and don't think its possible there, then again never tried it, don't need it personally there). Is there actaully any Star Trek game where Saucer Seperation is a relevant idea?

I have to admit though, that I have used it in Armada II at least 3 times and all 3 times I've thought the Saucer and Stardrive Sections got weaker because they would be destroyed to quickly. My point with this is: "Why give a ship the ability to seperate in game if its just going to get weaker? At least give it higher Health and or shield rates."

Does anyone agree with this?

Well even increasing those values has caused my Star Trek Armada II game to crash, noticed it with the Borg and the Dominion and don't feel like risking it with the Galaxy-class and its parts, I'm affraid it will just prove my point.

For the stock STA2, saucer separation isn't that much better.  The saucer doesn't have nearly enough health for the amount of firepower it has.

Separated, the two parts each do 70hp for a total of 140hp per shot with phasers alone.  Unseparated, they only do 100hp.  However, 900hp of damage available when separated when you have 1440hp of damage available unseparated makes the extra firepower pointless.  If anything, separating the two sections should give you more health than having one ship.  Firepower wise, it's a great tool, durability wise, resistance is futile.  You can take the saucer to the starbase to be decommissioned and at least you at least get a partial resource and crew refund from a loosing battle, but the saucer is an easy target.
