I dont know about the connector type.

If you are unsure I would buy a power converter to be safe, they usually come with an assortment of different plug adapters.

You need a adapter. In england they have 3 prongs.
I found a picture: http://www.londonleben.co.uk/london_leben/2005/01/englische_strom.html

hi baleful
im from london and we use the same voltage/frequency as you guys (220/50) but as the guy before me said, we have 3 pronged plugs. the third connector is just incase ur product malfunctions, its the earth connector. electricity would go there instead of into u. its very rarely needed but adds a bit extra safety to using stuff.
the adapters should be sold in many places, i presume germany uses a 2 pin system? one for live one for neutral similar to the americans (although they use lower voltage higher freq)? we sometimes use that for shavers and other toiletries, although i wouldn't plug anything other than a shaver into a 2 pin socket because a shaver is probably better insulated due to the fact its meant to be used in a bathroom.
hope this helps

thank you all for chiming in.
i swear to god, once i take over the world, we are going to start standardizing a hella lota stuff.
1 power type for the whole world. i dont care whos, so long as it is all the same. either we are ALL going to use Car Cigerette lighters or some kinda USB.
next, we are all going to use the Metric system and like it.
(no one in america knows what kilograms are except drug dealers)
and maybe some day we will all speak the same language. again, i dont care whos language, so long as everyone can speak it. communication is the first step towards world peace. (wow, that sounded preachy,
sorry )
all this to charge a phone that needs a USB
sinceraly, thank you all for chiming in

Here is a possible solution.... bring a compact fusion reactor with you that has the needed electrical sockets for your electronics.

The ironic thing is that the reason why batteries, plugs - all those goodies - aren't standardized is because companies try to find ways to compete with eachother. There were actually some pretty neat economic history about standardizing duracel type batteries way back... but the companies making the agreement decided they could make more money by competiting

ya know, we could all take a lesson from Battle Star Galactica.
kinda like a "hey world, your planet will be nuked and uninhabitable for 300 years, you now have 3 years to develop any and all technologies that will get you into space. and once your there, there will be NO turning back, so whatever you take BETTER last as your lives, your very existance, now depends on it."
that would be really sweet. buy a car that would last more than 6 or 8 years. a damn plasma tv that doesnt crap out after 1½ years.
not that i'm bitter or anything >:(
