Off topic, troll, hijacking... out of control!

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Well if your posting to get your point across yes it would be a big disappointment. (Leave you angry, frustrated, and felling ignored.)

If your focus is to add to the community you would be ok with it.

Where is your focus? it it about forcing your own ideas on the community or having the community do what they wont? its easy to slip in to I am the one concept I do it all the time, its takes some thing to suport the grater good by giving up what we wont.

Public forums are not being taken as a serious form of communication and just thrash out as they see fit. Sure the staff slams down a few out of control lunatics, but about those who are being just inconsiderate, there is really nothing "illegal" (in terms of forum rules) about it, more like impolite.

Teaching people not to be intrusive is just as learnable as not-to-scalp people :D which brings me back to why i started the topic...

It can be bad but sometimes good. Most forum threads, here and elsewhere do go off topic, but they usually steer back on topic after a little while. It can be very frustrating, I recall my Clash of Empires thread and instead of discussing the possibility of adding it as a FO mod, people just went on about a Cardassian race for FO with no regards to what I wanted to know.

In the end they all lost out as I kept it as a stock A2 mod.

I can truly understand your point and your feelings towards this but every forum works differently, on MSFC there are very few off topic threads except for the introduction posts. That's part of our feel and a sort of signature to MSFC, like the Donuts joke on A2Files. This is how the FO Forums works, whether you like it, hate it or simply accept it is up to you.

I think trying to change it is like trying to change the us Aussie people from being the general laid back type. It won't be an easy task, quite possibility an impossible one.

It is reasonable to expect that not everything you say will be taken seriously or will be derided/ignored when the conflux is so different.

Well expressed.

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”  ~ Steve Jobs

There is no human nature, there is only human behavior!, Its quite accurate. and there are thing we do because of being human such as self doubt and making shit up while ignoring what can be measured.

Let stick in the confines of this topic seeing its: "Off topic, troll, hijacking... out of control!"

This being a perfect example of the problems with a forum post.

Majestic posted some thing in line with the forum topic.

MrXT posted a respons to some thing in the topic that was off topic yet it dose not work to start a new topic about it.

ewm90 posted a response to that witch further took the topic off corse yet there is no better place to talk about this point that was rased.

I am not share there is any way I know of this to keep this stuff from happening.

Says the same guy that posted this utter crap Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - the only thing that comes between, You and what you wont is "you".

I don't believe in your spiritual crap i believe in science, every animal has its own nature/instinct and this includes humans, you cant argue science with that bull**** spiritual nonsense.

A mother instinctively protecting her child? is this not human nature? A man instinctively protecting a woman? is this not human nature?  That wasn't a question btw i was stating facts towards your paragraph of complete and utter cack.

And i was replying to what he said so it wadnt off topic...again just stateing facts here.

I never was a fan of those silly overmoderated forums, up to a point where you have to ask yourself for whom they are, the community or the moderators. We will take action if something goes out of control, but this is - and remains - a free place for everyone to share thoughts and discuss topics.

Oh and as we speak of moderation...
