I thought this was pretty interesting, if it passes they're going to have to reprint a lot of science books... What do you guys think?

Nice.

Fifty-three planets would not be fun for the kids who have to memorize all of their names and positions for science class...

its just stupid because they want to define every object in the damned belt a planet

it's not stupid, it's science, the more we know the better, what if plato or archimedes said it's stupid some 2293 years ago? what if einsteid said **** it and became a shoe sailsman or something :P it's a good discovery, admit it!

I must admit, they are taking all these little "rocks" way too seriously. The number of planets we have now is ok, others are just too damn small to be considered planets. It would be ok tho, if they just named them different and then there can be 5m for all I care ;)

yeah but thats what i mean the kupier belt or however the **** you spell it

ever since Pluto they have been trying to name everything in that belt a planet thats what i see as stupid

they should just be defined as asteroids or something not planets

some of them are bigger, such as ub 2003 41 or what ever it's called

the problem with this, that our beloved Scientists don't know what a Planet is exactly or their is no proper definition what a planet is exactly; hehe oh and now we have a "double/twin/whatever planet special feature in our solar system since Charon, formerly known as the moon of pluto is now its own planet; yippe-ka-yeah mothercuk

there is a defianation now, it is basicly anything thats gravity has made it in to a sphere like shape, is not orbiting a planet, is not a star, and is orbiting a star, if it fits into all three of them it is a planet

now that makes no sence "and is orbiting a star" what happens if the sun has long sence died and doesnt have enough force to hold the planet and it just goes away. Wouldnt still be a planet just dead?
