In fact, UK does not have the most powerful military in Europe... From US point of view probably looks that way because they follow you everywhere. They dont even have aircraft carriers anymore (even Italy and Spain have one, not to mention France...).

btw... Israel is in top 5 Armies in Europe...

Well... Somebody says that is, somebody says that isn't. I agree with you...

Israel is located on the continent of Asia.

However, in certain aspects Israel is considered as if it was part of Europe

That is kinda a dumb thing to say. Where it is located is definitely not Europe

actually we still have have one aircraft carrier, HMS Illustrious which isn't due to retire from service until 2014... Then for another four years we will share an aircraft carrier with France... HMS Illustrious replacement will be finished 2018 and is called HMS Queen Elizabeth and will be the Queen Elizabeth class and is gigantic in comparison to the Invincible class... There will also be the Prince of Wales but that will act as a reserve ship and wont be fitted unless something happens to HMS Queen Elizabeth...

Anyway who needs Aircraft carriers when you have Trident Subs, plus their replacements are in construction... the UK was always known for its great navy and hopefully it will stay that way

Israel geographically certainly isn't in Europe.  But politically/culturally it's fairly close to Europe.

Germany has a very strong military history (especially if you count stuff that happened before it was technically founded).  They came close to dominating Europe (and essentially did control it except for Britain) in WWII.  Economically they're very powerful.

Britain at various points controlled huge sections of the world and for a long time had the largest navy.  They also beat Napoleon (with Prussian (or German) help).  Economically they're also pretty strong.

Also, I'm not an expert on the British navy but they definitely have at least 1 (possibly 2?) carriers.

the UK military is still pretty strong and the US dnt follow us we help them in most cases and just because other countries have more air craft carriers dsnt make them better its about how they are used and the training and ability of the military. Also dnt forget UK have the SAS which are still considered to be a world elite

Ok, I'll bite.....

I chose "Other" because Italy is not listed.       The Roman Empire (obviously historically centered in Italy) had the most far-reaching and lasting effects.

After the Romans ... England/British Empire/UK/Great Britain has to be second. Spain/Portugal, & France are historically about equal (even though the argument could be made that France should be sole 3rd).  Germany/Austria/Russia would be bringing-up the rear.

If you go outside of Europe, hands-down the most powerful has to be China (even greater than the Romans).   Notable mentions would be the Egyptians, Persia, Ottoman Empire, and obviously the good ole US of A (although I hesitate with the USA, because we're comparatively still such a "young" country).

if you check my post above you will see we only have one, the other was decommissioned March 2011... and for about four years we won't have any, and will share with France, joy, not! And then we will have one massive hefty one 3 times the size of the last one

Why do you post in an already tense and rather pointless topic when you clearly know nothing, you are the type of person i was talking about in my post the kind that knows nothing or simply does not understand.

Well, China certainly has a lot of economic weight right now (no thanks to us [America]) But I'm not sure how well they would do militarily.

The USA may be young relatively speaking (so is Israel by the way, it's not even 100) but we have probably managed to rise to the top the fastest.
