Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

SPOILER ALERT

I saw the post comparing sga to st and i was just finishing up my second Mass Effect 2 playthough so i thought id create my own. So here we go

Firstly ship to ship combat
Right now i think the advantage goes to star trek but not knowing the how the kinetic barriers and armor compare to shields in star trek its hard to say.

Second ground combat
Without a doubt ME wins the weapons in star trek may be comparable but those st uniforms dont compare to the amazing armor/shields/barriers that are in ME. On top of that ME has biotics/tech powers that are really fun.

Shepard > Picard + Kirk + Sisko
After all Shepard died and all it did is tick him off.

O heres my Shepard as well.

As other people said in the other thread, I don't think we can really compare two separate science fiction universes.

However, I'd have to say Star Trek would probably win in space, though Mass Effect would win on the ground.  In Mass Effect they state that the shields ships have only stop kinetic weapons, so they wouldn't do anything to lasers, phasers, etc.  But Mass Effect actually has good ground soldiers.  Of course, Star Trek can just teleport them, so even then the outcome is debatable.

I dont think so after all they have shields and i forgot my amazing tech armor as another plus for ME. I know that an all this is completely baseless but im looking for opinions. One more thing before someone else says it
Im Commander Shepard and this is my favorite thread on the forums

Don't forget that you can traverse the galaxy in the Mass Effect Universe.  If the Caretaker had brought Shepard's team from across the galaxy, the worst that would have happened is that they would have missed dinner hours at the galactic space diner.

+1 for Mass Effect's team.

However it's not their technology, they don't even really know how it works, and they can't build their own....

And what if there was no jump gate anywhere near the Caretaker's Array?

Also if you go by the Star Trek books (which admittedly are non-canon) then Starfleet has developed Quantum Slipstream which can get them to the Delta Quadrant in a few hours  But that's only if you go by the books.... :pinch:

And if we go by other no-cannon sources Star Trek guy do have personell shields, can store unlimited weapons in something like a transporter buffer (the best explantation ever why I can carry the weapons of a small army in an egoshooter) and they have many ground vehicles.

In canon in Star Trek universe there are heavy armored and shielded bodyarmors and such strong infaterieweapons to destroy them in one shoot.
On DS9 Quark sold such a weapon and demonstratet it on a holographic but existing bodyarmor ;)

We just seen securityteams in groundbattles in Star Trek so far. But I don't think, that they won't use the same technologie they use in space on the the ground.

If you go by canon info, Starfleet has personal shielding. Admiral Leyton listed what he had stockpiled when talking to the Federation President, personal shields was part of the list.

worf-gyver built a personal shield out of everyday items in a fistful of data's

i guess they didnt feature in the dominion war cos they were expensive to give to all soldiers.

Either that or because we never saw ground combat that didn't involve badly beaten troops that were running out of supplies.

I first started playing mass effect 2 because i saw my girlfriend playing it on my xbox, so i played it and clocked it 5 times with dif ending, its my favourite game to date its just awesome, the normandys new phlanx cannon could blow the enterprise into half me thinks but as everyone has said cant really assume who would win without the appropriote laywork.

But on the ground i dont think theres any doubt that sheperd and his team would wipe the floor with every crew member aboard any starship fed/klinogon or even the 50000 brog drones lol.

The normandy is so cool if i had to choose a starship to command i would choose the normady 2 instead of any startrek ship.

That could change, i think they are going to do a movie on mass effect and since none of the startrek films were very good mass effect could take the lead on that too.

People seem to be forgetting that in Mass Effect the shields only stop projectiles (I think - I think there's a codex entry that says that the only reason lasers aren't used in space combat is because they're so short-ranged).  Star Trek weaponry would tear though Mass Effect ships.

I dont know the collectors main gun would appear to be energy based as opposed to projectile. At the end of the game the normandy was mounting some serious armaments. Anyway most people think that star trek would win in space. O yeah someone said that they could just transport them everyone in ME has shields so they couldnt get a transport lock.

I knew that they were going to announcing something big today but is that what it is. If so i need to play through them all again.
