The technology needed for such a super storage device has already been invented. Quantum computers not only enable huge processing power but also open the doors for almost unlimited storage.
Till quantum storage arrives there will be HVD (holographic versitaile disk) starting 2007 at 300GBs, can be expanded to terabytes on the size of a DVD.
-As for beaming:
Always remember that in reality beaming something means only transferring its information to another object. So after being beamed there would be 2 versions of you. NOT VERY PRACTICAL. Beaming the Information of a starship into a brick of stell would save much work so there probably is some use for this (aside from the unimaginable energy consumption)
-About free energy.
There is indeed free energy in the universe, in form of quantum foam (If M-Theory is true that is). However the universe does not allow you to extract this energy, if you do (There is no theory about how) the universe will take the energy back from somewhere else. Taking particles out of the quantum foam could even damage the structure of spacetime cause of too high energy density (according to general relativity). Similar to the danger of creating black holes (in fact instable ones have already been created) at particle accelerators like cern. Every company that claims to be able to extract energy from nothing leaves a bad smell:
a) They are right and it is a wonder, all we believed to know about physics would be wrong then
B) they are lying and just trying to make money out of it (quite common in the "free energy" society.
c)They are taking the energy from the quantum foam but it disappears somwhere else (Highly unlikely but possible & dangerous)

the earth from the sun is (147.5 million km) to (152.6 million km) to give you a idea of the how far we are.

Distance From Sun: 93,000,000 in Miles


Evin if we had 1000 Xb I dout it whould be from the center of ther earth to the outer crust.

The sun is 8 minutes away from the Earth at the speed of light.

And the speed of life is many more hard drives than our resources could build.

Whether or not "traditional peer-review science" votes for or against them is not the point. It is up to them to openly publish their results for review and discussion.

Their alternative is to make a product and sell it. Presumably, if they have an energy-producing device they can manufacture and sell it. So, why do they need to go through this "test us" charade? It serves no purpose, except to suggest they are fundamentally dishonest.

thats what i thought, they should publish the results and patent the technology, if any, and sell it or give it to other scientists to work out themselves. patenting it will still give them the claim of being the 'inventors'. i think its a bit to0 good to be true really

They may be running into a funding problem, and also, how many of us still use Nuclure power? its claener, makes more anergy, and is relitivly safe when handled corectly. but jsut couse one blew up and some people whent all WAAA we dont ahve it any more and all we have is a tonage of waist. [Edit: relised i dindt finish my thought here] My point is, if some one says it cant be done or its not safe, esspecialy a scientest, (like there have been) who would buy the power? if htey can prove it they can sell it.

I have read the book that you are talking about ewm90, read when i was doing my senour paper on Antimatter. i cant remmber it much but. the ammount of data to be stored could be done easly be using a planit, radio waves or light, timeers, and satalights. shoot you could even take out the planate if you wanted to.

Well I think it is posabule for humans with to days tech to rech wap 1 or the speed of lite with to days tech. The only problom is the thing or person that reches that speed would be crushed like a coke can.

Untill we make unersha dampers or some thing like that we wont travle far.

but the laws of energy limit us, the faster we go the grater the mass or some such, we would ahve to have one HONKING nuculer reactor (best part is the bigger the reactor the more bigger it would have to be.), and BIG time radar, couse at that speed a peice of dust would be like a 1000KT bomb not to menchen a Astroid. And dont even think about magnetic fields, would add to much weght, would scramble our computers and most likly confuse the hell our of ears. then let consider stoping. we would have to put an equel force infornt of us to slow down, blowing in to all that energy at light speed. LMAO.

Einstein left the theory of relativity incomplete on purpose, mainly because he didn't wont the responsibility of what could or would have been brought down on mankind, so some parts of physics i don't entirely believe in.

mainly "as the speed of light approaches speed and mass increase to nearly infinite degrees" or something like that (i don't remember it to clearly, and it’s late and I’m tired).
