Iconians...

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Does anyone have any idea what their ships or stations would even look like since we have never seen one?

I think there was another thread started about the Iconians and how they will appear. The team said they have a face for them and have worked them out I believe, but other then that info about them is under wraps.

their design is already finished, we made up something unique for them. but it will take a while until they are finished, perhaps v4, but the ciadan are strong candidates too

it would be nice to see the shield generator mentioned in another thread being a unique abiility for the Iconians. The name itself sounds as though these guys are going to have sleek tech.

In anticipation  :sweatdrop:

yep their technologly is quite advanced, although they have a different view of the universe as most of us "younger races" or "children" as they would call us :) A shield generator sounds more like a Ciadan features and in fact they use many centralized technologies (most Ciadan vessels do not even have their own energy sources but are fed through a subspace energy network)

Sounds like the Cardassian Orbital Platforms.

Could the Iconians have the Doomsday Device from TOS? No-one knows where it came from and it has a Neutronium hull, something the Iconians are known to have mastered.

How do you know? Thier nickname Demons of Air and Darkness implies that they were quite capable of conquest, plus the technology of the device fits their level (Neutronium mastery is not very common).

I think he would know cos he's the one who worked on the backstory :). But yeah, I agree with you in that a race viewed as "noted for conquest" (as on memory alpha) would be kinda weird if it t end up getting over Civilized and "proper" on us :). However, a Romanesque or colonial Europe kinda approach would be cool- A race that calls all others younger and under-evolved, yet being more brutal, aggressive, and conquistadorial than any of 'em. Would be a rather cool paradox of sorts..kinda like a cannibal that's overly concerned with Emily post at the table.
that psyche and corresponding tactics when reflected in technology and ships for the race as well as gameplay would be very cool to see. :)

But, personally, Im more eager to get to see the cardassians from the Cards in fleetops thread in feature requests (the one by cbosdell) get implemented first - more than any other "new" race at this time. (but that's just what I'm hoping  :sweatdrop:)

"Historically the Iconians were generally described as a race of conquerors, though recently some scholars dispute this claim as a distortion perpetuated by species who feared and demonized their advanced technology, and eventually destroyed them." - Memory Alpha

Speaks for itself.

Problem. History distortion makes it hard to tell what they really were. Just because scholars dispute something doesn't make it incorrect, my money is on a mix of both (like the Vaadwaur) depending on whatever they face at the time.

I never said they were conquerors, only that their 'nickname' implied they could conquer.

yup. we've all seen how "good" scholars actually are in their work. retcon city.  :D
but we can't afford to get ahead of ourselves. et's see what the mods have in mind. Im sure they've been through this and don;t need us telling them how to interpret or read this material.
