I'm not sure if it's possible to make this a role-play thread as it takes place in history, but I'll do my best.
8 weeks before the battle of Kittimor, a fleet of 482 Tereanan starships and 528 Romulan starships converge on Theta 955, for the vast resources there in the single largest battle in the history of the Tereanan and Romulan empires. Not one ship (Tereanan or Romulan) escaped!
Background Information:
In 2285, a Tereanan fleet of 15 ships responded to a distress call from another Tereanan ship that didn't take the Klingon "warning" shots too kindly. The Tereanan rescue fleet punched their way through the Klingon blockade to get to the other ship, triggering a war. In 2311, the Romulans thought that they could take advantage of this war and starting attacking both Tereanan and Klingon ships, so the Tereanans mined the Klingon/Romulan border.
The battle of Theta 955 was to secure the sector's resources to gain an edge on the Romulan empire. The sector was in Romulan space and had both the Klingon and Federation borders directly adjacent to the sector. A win here would turn the tide of the war either for or against the Tereanan or Romulan empires.
It wasn't until 2358 when the Tereanan Empire started mas-producing chroniton torpedoes, Neutronium armor wasn't introduced until 2372, and only in a low grade Tritanium-Neutronium alloy. Also, Tereanan cloak detect at the time was only known to work on the Klingons and hardly ever worked on the Romulans, and the newer cloak detection system was about to get it's first test. Or so they thought...
=== BEGIN ===
Fleet Admiral - This should be an easy victory for the Tereanan empire. Have groups 1 and 2 cloak just as the sector get's into sensor range. Our scouts will ensure that we get the majority of Romulan ships that might be in the sector before they can decloak. That is, if the cloak detect actually works on Romulans.
Tactical - The fleet reports that they are on their way. So far, no sign of Romulan vessels, but there is a curious distortion field on the border. We're not sure what type of an affect it'll have.
Assistant Admiral - Notify the fleet to approach cautiously.
A few minutes later:
Tactical - The distortion field is disrupting our cloaking systems. Both groups of ships have just lost their cloak. The 58 Romulan vessels have opened fire on the fleet.
The fleet reports 29 of it's vessels have been destroyed, they have returned fire on the Romulan fleet. Our fleet now has minimal shields up.
Fleet Admiral - Get those ships out of there!
Tactical - Too late, both groups of ships have been destroyed. A total of only 15 Romulan ships have been destroyed.
Assistant Admiral - 89 ships down in seconds! We've underestimated the Romulans. Send groups 3 and 4 in, but only cloak group 3. Send group 5 into the sector from the Klingon border, decloaking before they reach the distortion field.
Tactical - Groups 3-5 are going in.
Fleet Admiral - Groups 6 and 7, go through the distortion field cloaked mid-battle and open fire the instant the cloak field goes out.
Tactical - Groups 6 and 7 are standing by, Groups 3 and 4 have entered the distortion field. The Romulans have opened fire.
Group 4 has returned fire, destroying 11 Romulan ships before their shields went up. 13 of our ships have been destroyed before the shields wen't up and the Romulans are calling for reinforcements.
Group 5 has entered the distortion field from the Klingon border, but was intercepted by a fleet of 52 warbirds. 18 of the warbirds were destroyed before the shields went up.
Groups 6 and 7 have entered into the distortion field and have opened fire. The Romulan vessels are in retreat.
Fleet Admiral - Do what it takes to prevent those Romulan vessels from escaping! Send in groups 8-12 to reinforce, and 13-15 to cut off their escape route.
Tactical - Romulan reinforcements have arrived and the retreating Romulan fleet has turned around. Group 5 has nearly been destroyed, but has been met up with groups 13-15. The Romulan fleet in that area has been destroyed.
Assistant Admiral - Have groups 3, 4, 6, and 7 fall back and meet up with groups 8-12, surround the warbirds. If they try to cloak out, use the photon torpedoes as a means of detecting them by having them detonate shortly after launch.
Tactical - The Romulan fleet and reinforcements have been destroyed, but there is nothing left of groups 3-6, and 7-9. Groups 5 and 13 have also been destroyed. And Romulan reinforcements are continuing to come in.
Fleet Admiral - Send groups 16-20 in through different directions, going into the sector firing full spread in all directions before they enter the sector.
Several minutes later, the Romulan reinforcements arrive and the remaining groups of Tereanan vessels surround the Romulans, and the two fleets mutually annihilate each other. Not one Romulan ship escaped! Not one Tereanan ship escaped! The next week, Tereanan and Romulan ships are scavenging that sector for what remains of their vessels, not one shot is fired and the Tereanan and Romulan empires start negotiating a peace treaty with each other, which falls apart after the battle of Kittemer after 4 warbirds destroy a Federation ship and the 2-week-old Mountshining destroys one of the 4 warbirds. Shortly afterwards, a group of Klingon ships arrive on the scene just after the Romulans cloak out, and the Mountshining attacks the Klingon vessels as well. Shortly afterwards, the Federation and Klingon Empire form an alliance. To preserve both alliances, the Tereanan and Klingon empires agree to only battle if they are in neutral space. The Tereanan-Romulan war continued until the start of the Dominion war. Afterwards, the Tereanans and Romulans renewed their peace negotiations.
=== END ===
The Tereanan's role in the battle of Kittemer was negligible. Also, the Tereanans have only been known to attack planets once before the Tereanan-Breen war. And the attacked planet was a terrorist colony that was turned into a volcanic wasteland. And the Tereanan's did not attack Breen itself, they attacked it's star (right after the Breen attacked Earth), in which after the war, they reversed the effect of that attack. Afterwards, with the exception of terrorist colonies (under Tereanan law, terrorists are treated as opposing millitary groups), the Tereanans have only attacked planets that had only millitary outposts, and Borg planets.
EDIT:
The thing about the planets is because of the way the Tereanans responded to the Klingon cruisers shortly after the battle of Kittemer. Because the Klingons believed that had the Romulans not been there, the Tereanans would have been the ones attacking the colony.
