well u could never run quad sli gtx240 off a 400watt supply lol
but still personally i dont thnk one will ever need more than a 750watt power supply so long as u only run a single gpu setup and about no more than 4 hdd's and about 4 dimms of ram, cpu and ram (and still have a bit of margin).
im running my whole rig off 650watt and thats a gtx460, q6600, 4 dimms ram, 4 hdds and a asus enthusiast MB.
the main things to look for in a PSU are the current ratings on the +3.3V, +12V and +5V rails. and the efficiency. those are top 2 things to look for. everything else is secondary.
I never worry about connectors, if i dont have enough i just make my own and split it off a rail

Well your wrong twice because the gt240 isnt even capable of sli. Perhaps you should go get a clue before telling me that my psu is not 400watts and giving people advice when you dont know much your self.

@kestrel
*sigh* it doesnt matter even if it is or isnt sli capable we are taking about power supplies and im talking from a power standpoint. i.e. if u could have gt240 in sli. power thats it.
on a side note: i do know what im talking about, and i have a bachelors degree in electrical engineering to prove it.
dont know why u getting so worked up. lighten up a bit

Well then your whole point of view is pointless for the following reason
1. i do have a 400watt psu and have no issues
2. the gt240 is not a card that can use sli so saying that if i used sli i couldnt use a 400watt psu is irelavant.

ur welcome mate
and kestrel
have u heard of hypothetical opinons/situations/point of views? and just coz ur not having issues atm doesnt mean that other people wont aswell not everyone has ur exact setup
now just drop it before a mod has to come in here and lock this for this unneeded handbag fight ur trying to have with deathincarn

A hypothetical discussion entails something that is at least possible what he described was impossible because a gt 240 doesnt support sli so a gt 240 in sli not working with my 400watt psu is a pointless discussion.
This isnt a fight at all this is a forum where people discuss stuff if you want to drop stuff and have people accept your point of view then blog something or go tweet.
