Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

That seems about right, maybe a little on the high end, but not too bad . For that same price though, you can get the specs we are referring to. i3 second gen, better graphics, etc

Or if it is easier for you to buy from say amazon, and for a little more money,

This one is a pretty good laptop and a good brand.

£299 for that?! that's daylight robbery. you might as well let them hold you down and steal your wallet.
dunno what planet you're on zax, paying £299 for that 2008 tech can only be called sexual assault.
3 alternatives from a couple minutes on amazon UK:
one - £20 more and the tech is sandy bridge from late 2011, not 2008. it's not a core i3, it's a pentium, but it's still sandy bridge based. other specs better that £299 rig you posted.
two - £50 more but now you're getting a full core i3, but it's not sandy bridge, it's nehalem, from late 2010, still two years newer than 2008.
three - £70 more but you get a sandy bridge core i3 from 2011, years ahead of that 2008 machine. all other specs are better than the £299 thing you posted.
I recommend spending some time looking around for yourself and going for something similar to option three if you can afford it, otherwise option one if you need to keep costs closer to £300.
Whatever you do, don't give someone £299 for that machine you posted.

LOL I was thinking $299.
I would tag it around $200-$300, but it also depends on the brand
edit: looks like I actually said it wasn't a bad price, before I did unit conversions to find equivilant priced laptops. mybad...

USD200 is currently worth around GBP130. USD299 is worth around GBP190.
£190 for that laptop s/he listed is more like it, but personally I still wouldn't pay more than £150 for it, it's 2008 tech, it's outdated even if being generous. especially since nehalem processors (around 2010 tech) have to be priced cheaper to make any sense considering how good value for money sandy bridge (2011) is.

This Thread makes my Computer feel old for having an Nehalem-architecture i7. It still gets the job done faster then anything I've ever seen! Then, all I see is the computers at school.

Well, At least I can tell you the msi is not something you would have liked. It has very fragile hinges and MSI has terrible customer service concerning laptops. I had a lesser model of that same series and its headphone jack went bad within months and the hinges fell appart because of their terrible and outdated design. It had sweet specs for its price, but I made up the difference in other ways.

lol well yeah, nehalem is coming up on 2 years old. that's as long in the tooth as dracula in the computer world.
if you're gonna upgrade then nehalem to ivy bridge will really pay dividends. even an ivy bridge i5 is really good.
although if you see a really cheap sandy bridge i7 then give it thought, as ivy bridge isn't far ahead of sandy bridge in performance (blame that on AMD).

I would bet that is because yours has a metal case.
Worth the weight, imo. Mac users think so too.

mac users also think the world is flat, so let's not give them too much respect.

Anybody here know anything useful about laptop bags. I figure since I just spent so much, I might as well get something to protect it when i carry it around.
