I like this idea!  It'd be great to see the big G devouring a world in the background.  Possibly with a silver streak randomly zooming about as well.

Another idea to add:
Blackhole background (I know the idea of a blackhole map object was thrown out, but what about a colorless void of spiraling death in the far background?)

Or a background quantum singularity with a couple of Species 8472 vessels coming out (also in the background, so you don't actually encounter the ships) then flying off every so often would be quite cool

The FF movie version of Galactus devouring a planet in the background prehaps ? (with a barley visable silver surfer :p )

Could be mistaken for a dark Nebula, though. Could never mistake the comic version for anything else.

Any chance of a Galactus map unit? Even just a background thing to see him above a far distent planet while fighting the other team.

I didn't suggest interacting exactly, just a background thing that could be put on maps. Similar to the starfield or planets; doesn't really do anything, it's just there.

^^Exactly.  It's not like we're talking about adding Terry Pratchett's Discworld Turtle...  Though now that I think about it!  That's a great idea!  Haha!

Kirk is the only one I trust to truly defeat Galactus.

Picard would just quote the prime directive as Galactus munched away whole civilizations.

Archer would hope to leap out of the situation before it got too rough.

Sisko would watch reruns of Babylon 5 to figure how Sinclair or Sheridan would handle Galactus.  Actually, if he did that, he might win.

Janeway would just bitch at Galactus, and offer him coffee as a substitute to devouring whole worlds.  I mean, it worked for her.  Hmmm.... now that I think about, Janeway might just be the right candidate.

Janeway would probably join Galactus, ending the facade once and for all.

Kirk would probably throw a small rock at Galactus, only for Galactus to respond by throwing a small moon.

Sorry, couldn't resist.  Kirk would find a large pipe of some kind and some combustible materials and some kind of other material that would kill Galatcus and... well you get the picture.
