Funny Law and Order UK Trailer
Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

I thought that with all the seriousness of the Gun Debate thread, we could all do with a laugh. BBC America is airing the UK version of Law and Order and decided to provide a helpful(?) primer of our justice system and vocabulary.
Non-Brits may want to have the play/pause button at the ready to catch all the translations.

"These police and prosecutors are often incomprehensible"
"They live off a steady diet of sandwhiches......and pens"
And the best line of all:
"It's like our Law & Order.....only more British"
I was seriously having a stressful day today. Watching this has really helped. Thank you, Fraz.
Oh, and it's nice to know that Apollo is on the case.

They show similar commercials (30 second ones) on cable here all the time. I wouldn't want to be a Cylon in that courtroom.

RAF pilots may not get off easy, but colonial pilots sure will .
Damn it's good to be a colonial.
And not have judges/goverment wear wigs (minus pelosi.)

lol the wigs are a funny throwback, a ceremonial thing. they have common misconceptions though.
they are only worn in senior courts, not the every day lower courts like magistrates courts.
you will see them in law and order uk more as the cases will probably take place at the old bailey (crown court) more often, which is a senior court, it handles the big cases, the sort of stuff tv shows are made about. while the large majority of crimes, small simple crimes, go to lower courts.
also the judges leave out the wigs when they would get in the way, like hot days.

dunno, i presume that for everyday things the judges have the power to say they arent needed. id guess only important ceremonial things would have the wigs as a must.
presumably there are some attractive female lawyers/judges that wear them. rule 34 evidence would be hard to find for that (not impossible of course, thats why the rule exists)
