The full quote: "With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."

*Cue the violent self-defeat*

actually the full quote lasts a great deal longer than that. if i really wanted to correct you i could copy pasta a large amount, but u see my point, each of our quotes was a value judgement about how much of the dialogue to transcribe. i chose that which navyguy took, just to correct his quoting.

That was the full Judge Satie quote Picard mentioned from Memory Alpha, the rest was Picard speaking.

Reciting it got a funny reaction from the Admiral.

lol i dont noe why ma cut it off, his speech went on uninterrupted for a while longer. after he mentioned that his little speech came from the amiral's dad she got really annoyed, stood up and started going bonkers, at which point the bigger admiral walked out and cancelled the hearings. it was a brilliant scene.

They didn't cut it off, I just only included the Satie quote without Picards addition.

Brilliant it was. Once he stood up and walked out, everyone could tell she put her foot right in it.

navyguy wrote:Not to carry this into a new subject, but yes you dont need space battles to make a good episode, "DRUMHEAD" TNG 'WHEN THE FIRST LINKS OF THE CHAIN ARE FORGED" Picard talking about how your freedoms can so easily be taken away. As far as Stargate i liked the general, darn his name.

I often wonder after watching that,  how far would we go to prove we are right? one has to think of the Salem Witch trials, after seeing that episode.  That episode says to me just because you can do something doesnt mean you should, hence fourth i think a lot of pepole could learn from that show.

ronan second best to teal'c, big tough guy such a simplistic man come right down to low iq but high enough to be useful for combat, usually also does jokes without realize it and sees things no one else can.

Ronin wasn't low IQ.  He, however, had no real scientific education, or interest.  However, at a glance he could tell you how many people had passed through an area in the last month, what planet they were from, sizes, gender, approximate age, if they were civilian or military, and if they were carrying extra things.

He was an expert on tracking, hunting, and a master of at least two forms of martial arts in addition to being able to stay one step ahead of a race of near-immortal beings who already had a tracking device in him...and still couldn't recapture him.

The only thing that makes him seem like he might be low in the IQ department is that he's surrounded by geniuses who all (except for Shepard) specialize in fields that he really doesn't care about, so makes no actual effort to learn anything about.

In short; he's more street smart than book smart.

Yeah, Ronin wasn't so much un-intelligent as out of place. He is an alien after all, so in a Earth based society, his behaviors might seem strange or "dumb". I did like his character and the way he interacted with Shepherd.

the man again shows his case almost daily with no signs of giving up, even when the jaffa were free, he still didnt give up, not even to the Ori. teal'c also has an odd habit of saying "Indeed." and a remarkble stonewall face

Indeed.  :D

I loved the episodes that showcased tel'c's life on earth TBH they were his best episodes. Right now 2 come to mind, the episode were that girl is flirting with him and the one where he gets some kind of virus and that little girl takes care of him. Actually i think i may watch them again.
