Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

my color techer is making his drug recover realy pulic he was on the cover of the washington post helth section on nov-08th-05.

Method Man
A local gay man makes his meth use into a very public issue

The stretch of 17th Street -- roughly between P and R streets NW -- is one of the district's foremost gay villages. It hosts the Capital Pride parade in June and the High Heel Race in October. There are gay-owned bars, restaurants and retailers. It's a gay-tourism brochure come to life. As with most marketing, however, reality is often a bit grittier than the marketed gloss.

Thursday evening, July 28, Chad Upham hung some of the community's dirty laundry in front of the True Value Hardware store at 17th and Corcoran. In a T-shirt that read ''I use crystal methamphetamine,'' Upham and a few friends and co-workers unfurled banners and handed out stickers to raise awareness about methamphetamine abuse in the gay community.

It is very hard to stand up and admit you're an addict, and he deserves respect for having the courage to do that.

Actually where I used to live like half of my childhood friends turned out into drug addicts and actually 3 of my good friends already died from drugs( RIP :( )

But luckily my best friend did stop using drugs, but he had to spent like 5 years in the middle of nowhere to do it, so I didnt see him much :(
Anyhow hard drugs are bad stuff, stay away! ;)

They make his sexuality a big deal tied into his drug use...I'm gay, I don't do drugs, I enjoy a drink every now and then, and I have tried a few drugs (nothing as lethal as meth)...but i'd never actually do it agian...The fact he admitted he was addicted is a great step in his over coming the addiction. I know quite a few people who are dead boring and completely uncharming when they are not high...so sometimes drugs are a good thing, for the personality lol. I think this is a very good idea, I'm going to make a shirt that says "I don't need cigs" since most of my friends smoke...I can't say i've never had a craving, but I'm staying away.

"High Heel Race"...*sighs* some things just promote stereotypes, I'm openly gay and I'm not fem or queen-like in anyway, most people are shocked to find out I'm gay because apparently people around the world have this notion that gay guys can't be masculine...

I have met a lot of gay men who do use drugs though, and it's a very sad thing...It's popular, and thats what scares me, people following trends, that's how people in the 50s and 60s became addicted to cigs...Says a lot about the power of popularity and trends in America.

I've always said "In America we don't have royalty, we have popularity"
