Bridge Commander Questions

Want to say something off topic? Something that has nothing to do with Trek? Post it here.

Well, after further consideration, I decided I might mod for Bridge Commander.  I have a few questions though.

1 - How do I get those two warbirds away from that gas cloud from that star that exploded without getting my ship destroyed in the process?  And is it possible to call in for reinforcements?
2 - What modeling tools do I need for Bridge commander and are there any for gmax?
3 - Where do I find a Bridge Commander community?

The good old Filefront site has installation programs in the correct folders. Just search for BCUT and look for the latest version.

Bridgecommander @ Filefront

BCUT itself: Bridge Commander Universal Tool. Damn good installer!

Well, thanks.  None of the mods seem to work.  I used the universal tool, but the cube doesn't show up as an available ship.

Which tab did you use and was 'Menu Group' section filled? And is the program set to use the game in the options?

I used all of the tabs to try to find one that would work.  The Menu Group was filled in.

Is there a Mutators menu in the game settings? It should be under configure/customize. Mods shouldn't work if that's not active.

Now it worked.  The cube is overpowered though.

Nah, its fine as long as you don't get blue beamed. It makes for big borg fleet battles too.

The Cube is one of the few ships that can get away with being unbalanced, due to being a literal one-ship armada.

For some reason, online, it gives me a "script/autoexe" mismatch.  I patched Bridge Commander it, but didn't do anything else to it.

Thanks for the link.

Yeah to play online you have to have a stock 1.1 install or a km 1.0 or km 2k10 beta install. You will know what version(of km anyways) the host is using by the name. You have to have the exact same everything(though retextures like most games dont matter) to play online.

Where do I get this?
Nevermind, I found it.

Downloading and installing now.  I've gotten pretty good at battling.  I defeated 2 AI Keldens with the stock Galaxy class.

On a clean 1.1 install right? No foundation no nothing?

man bridge commander stock was rubbish. im so glad it got modded a lot. i mean waiting 15 minutes for phasers to recharge only for them to tickle a bop and then your battery ran out immediately after was seriously annoying. battles lasted so long i could get a cuppa while waiting for the phasers to reload. the torp reload time wouldnt be bad if they actually did damage, sometimes it felt like you were throwing rocks at the enemy instead of photons. even when their shields dropped, torps barely scratched the hull. the funny limited ammo super torp was good, but only available in campaign, and often destroyed a torpedo tube. the kessok torp was ok, but it moved slower than most ships so you could just fly in any direction to escape it.

a good thing is that the modded prommie mvam was actually done really really well. having 3 independent ships worked game mechanic wise in BC, it was still silly, but fun to play with.
