5th-graders charged with having sex in Louisiana classroom <

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Five fifth-grade students face criminal charges after authorities said four of them had sex in front of other students in an unsupervised classroom and kept a classmate posted as a lookout for teachers.

The students were arrested Tuesday at the Spearsville school in rural north Louisiana, authorities said. Two 11-year-old girls, a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year old boy were charged with obscenity, a felony. An 11-year-old boy, the alleged guard, was charged with being an accessory.

"After 44 years of doing this work, nothing shocks me anymore," said Union Parish Sheriff Bob Buckley. "But this comes pretty close."

Authorities said the incident happened March 27 at the school, which houses students from kindergarten through 12th grade. A high school teacher normally watches the fifth-grade class at the time, but went to an assembly for older students and the class was inadvertently left unattended, Buckley said.

The class, which had around 10 other students, was alone for about 15 minutes, he said.

"When no teacher showed up, the four began to have sex in the classroom with the other elementary students in the classroom with them," he said.

It took a day for authorities to find out about the incident. A student who had been in the class told a high school student about it the next day, Buckley said. The student told a teacher, and school officials notified the sheriff's office. Detectives began questioning students Thursday.

School officials did not return calls seeking comment.

The students, who were not identified because of their age, were released to their parents after their arrests, Buckley said. They will next be arraigned in juvenile court. A message seeking comment from the district attorney was not immediately returned.

Buckley said it was unclear what the children could face in penalties.

errr dnt US schools have to pass a test or summit otherwise they dnt move up a grade (i'm not 2 sure how US school system wks but thats what ive heard)

Man!  That sounds like statutory rape as well (I think)-11 year olds with a 12 and 13! 
The age thing doesn't seem unusual though, my 11th grade class has sixteen and seventeen (and near 18) year olds and no-one's skipped or failed.  Well, maybe the 13 year old failed a year.

Oh, and I don't think it's statutory rape, either.  I think that, if they're both minors, than it counts as both consensual and legal, although it's still a mind-blowingly stupid idea.

This stuff will happen more of a reason to lay of apsenets as the only why to prevent ministration of STD's. If you look at some research you will see that Preteens are acting more like teens because of the in portents of growing up we need to lay off a bit. Let kids be kids and try to relies that some kids need to lean or will not lean things them selfs. We are all human nothing more nothing less.

It is political propaganda because this will be a topic in the 2008 election ...And the reason why kids are "growing up" faster is due because of technology and its impact in the modern society.  Now a kid can go on the internet and find anything about anything which is a lot of power because kids can find pornography and other aspects of adult content on the internet very easily .  So STD's and abstinences are not reasons for the kids to do something like this .  O, and New Orleans go by French Law, not United States Law which is a little interesting .  If you want to find a real source for this type of information instead of looking at a little information about one incident on a news website which gets money by making people emotional and msnbc is known pretty well as a political website so they have a tendency to swing just a little on the liberal side on topics ,  look over at this website, its one of the best for statistical data on children and the different trends on just about everything in their lives.

Please note that many of the crappy things done by "conservtives"-nixon and the current administration as two examples-are actually against many traditional conservative values and hence have been dubbed neo-cons, whos most notable belief is that a country will only work effectively if their is a percieved external threat, leading to things like the exaggeration of the threat posed by the U.S.S.R., or Al-quida, so don't blame the entire conservative party, or even the majority of it, for bad decision making.

First, after a years of actually living in the real world you will find out truth is relative, and that is including all the news, not just fox in your case.  And now you are just talk about conspiracies and such with you thinking I have been brain washed, in my opinion it is ignorant for you too even think that without considering yourself to be the one brainwashed.  First, this administration has actually did something instead of President Clinton in Somalia; do you know what happened after that incident which that Black Hawk Down movie so vividly showed the public?  Clinton backed down; after just 18 American lives lost because of his "half-war" theory he back down like a spineless cat, do you know what every American soldier in Somalia thought when Clinton did this?  They hated him and they still do, did you see the images of the Somalian Terrorists mutilate the dead American bodies?  Did you not see the terrorists rejoice when the Americans left?  Have you not heard the cries of the mothers and daughters in Somalia wishing the Americans come back?  You know nothing...you will always know nothing with your ignorance, I will not spend one more second explaining to you the actual truth, spend at least a couple minutes looking and investigating that incident...you will find your president Clinton didn't do anything to help those dead American soldiers and there families.  O, and Clinton is the reason why our soldiers don't have the best of everything now because he cut spending by over 40% during his terms and he downsized the military so much its hard to take care of 2 small countries, the U.S. military was sworn after WWII that it would be able to field an army and navy capable of fighting 2 huge wars at the same time but then the Democrats have the mess everything up again and Osama Bin Laden has been in the  CIA database for over 15 years now so president Clinton knew about Osama for at least 6 years of his terms and too plan something that large took years, actually we know it took years because we have intelligence from many sources that he was planning it for at least 4 years in advance which would coincide with Clinton's terms so yes Clinton is responsible but almost everyone up there is responsible so too put blame on one man is making him a scapegoat which isn't using your intellect if you have any.  And New Orleans uses French Law, I'm saying law, not control, the United States has it under its control but the city is mostly French and Blacks from past slaves so they continue with their heritage and have kept French law for over 200 years.  Stem cell research has at least another 20+ years to test and learn more about it before it will become useful and even then they aren't 100% sure it will even help anyone, the Democrats tried to make Stem cell a hot topic in the 2004 Presidential Election because they knew they wouldn't win otherwise.  Kids under 18 in some cases even under 22 don't have the experience in life to be making such a huge decision, if they use safe sex than maybe but most don't even use condoms;  what you are saying is if there are 2 kids with loaded guns just let them pull the triggers and see what the consequences are.  The right way is to teach kids about sexuality slowly throughout school until about age 16, then after age 16 they should have the knowledge about this to make an informed decision.  What you said the Liberal side might be truth, that is in of itself a contradictory, because each side has a spin on it, it doesn't matter what side it is it still gives it a spin to try to make you hear what you want to hear.
