Animated Avatars?

How come my animated gifs when I upload them they aren't animated anymore? My current avatar pic is supposed to change colors....

EDIT: I'll attach it here. See if there is a difference.

when u open the gif it works fine.

but for avatars, animations are probably disabled.

no, they aren't, but I think they need to be a link, not an upload.

I linked it to the working image. No change whatsoever. The image still doesn't strobe through colors.

maybe the gif is too complex. try a less complex one. smaller size, less images etc.

Yeah, I cant even get it to accept an animated .gif as an avatar.


I need to start making animated .pmg's some time.




I'll edit as I try smaller stuff, see if I CAN get soemthing to work.


edit: Ok tried from the dancing cat, to


edit2: even doesnt seem to want to work......... and its not even animated.


None will save as a avatar.


edit3: even wont work, and thats as simple of a test pic as you can make.

Does the site accept animated avatars? Not all sites are the same.

this site does.  one of our older members(Admiral Adama I believe) has an animated Dradis for his avatar.

//Edit: just for the record, I have never been able to get the sites link-to-avatar feature to work.

I checked Admiral Adama's profile and his avatar seems to be a gif. I don't think the filetype is the problem.

The forum scales the avatars automatically to fit 80 pixels by 80 pixels square. Animated GIFs will only have the first frame when scaled by the forum. To get an animated GIF as your avatar it must be within those dimensions to get the animated GIF avatar to work.

Those who plan to use animated avatars, please don't use anything that might be considered annoying.

adama's gif is animated too.

maybe when they changed forum the old avatar pics that were animated remained animated, but new avatar pics only take frame 1.

The image Tok'ra used is invalid GIF. Opening it in an editor and saving it will solve that.
