hello, i started playing fleet ops about a week or so ago (was a big armada 1 player years and years ago) and its a pretty fun game. but aside from playing over a Lan with my brother it seems to lack any kinda of online play. i tried downloading and using this Tunngle thing (which iv never heard of before now tbh) but im not really sure what it does. is it just like a messager to share IP's with or?

tl;dr: im trying to play online but am not really sure how.

Hiya, Tunngle is a VPN which allows us to play Fleet Ops much more easily than other VPNs or Gamespy.

Using Tunngle - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations

Simply start up Tunngle, log into the Fleet Ops network, and then go into LAN in multiplayer->Fleet Ops (via the FO application) :) .

Tunngle recently updated which makes the automatic "jump-into-network" function not work for FO at the moment, so it has to be done manually currently :) .

hmm so if i do this right i should see players in the LAN Lobby? it still says "Player list is not available in this mode" i also dont see any games. i tried the "Internet - Tunngle" option too and i guess this relates too that bug you were talking about sense it just shows an error when i try that option.

i think you kinda lost me with your instructions though, this is what i did.

Logged Tunngle and went too the FleetOps network, then i went and ran FleetOp's and went too the Lan lobby, and thats it. no change. you said something else though that confused me "LAN -> FleetOp's" does this mean there is an option in the LAN lobby im missing?

You'll need to start tunngle, enter into the fleet ops lobby, start the game (if you have Windows 7, use admin mode so you can download maps) and press the tunngle button in the game menu. Once you do this, it should say something about 'checking assets' for a few seconds, and after that you'll be able to see any match open or in progress.

After you get that error in tunngle, just go back to the multiplayer screen and select "Local Area Network".

You should be able to see everyone with games being hosted on the Tunngle Virtual LAN....just as normal.

You do not need admin mode to download maps (that was only in 3.1.5 and below) :)

The list of players is visible in Tunngle, while the list of games is visible in Fleet Operations (in multiplayer).

Just look at the images in that previous link: those correspond to Tunngle view. To see what they look like in Fleet Ops at the same time: An Introduction - The Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations :)

Is that so? Huh. I guess I've just done it out of habit ever since.

Yup, maps are downloaded to application data from then on - that also was accompanied by the fix to allow minimaps to be displayed after map download :).

There are 12 on right now :) . The front page of Fleetops.net shows the current number of Tunngle players :)

If you are not seeing the full amount, it is likely that you have not forwarded the single port or are having some firewall issue.
