Make the teams random pick races. or the moderator randomly pick the race for them. Atleast then they can't prepare or on how to play them and it evens the challenge a bit... but it isn't a perfect way of doing it

well if it is a 2 vs 2 tournament, having long preparation time really favours the more experienced teams? Or am i thinking silly stuff?

it is already difficult to balance a 2 vs 2 tourny

but on the other side... double tennis matches are hardly balanced teams

I would not do that.   You have to be one of the reaallyy good players to be able to play every race in the game.  I wouldn't play in a torny if you had to random pick races.   I only have a workable strat for one race and barely, if ever play the other races.   I know many players who only play a couple, or just one race and would get slaughtered if they played another one.
