Hello! I have played against the AI in FO on and off for a year or so, and enjoy the game very much. I decided to try out online multiplayer, and *think* I've set everything up correctly. (Tunngle, etc)

Including myself, only 2 people seem to be online at the time I type this, but I hope to see more players on the weekends.
I'll need some tutoring, but I think I can get the hang of online play!

Hardest thing about the multiplayer in FO can be finding someone who likes your game rules XD

my preferences is high start resources, and planning to have a long game, with massive space battles and lots of action.

my first tungle match was with someone who prefers the smallest number of resources, and having to quickly scrounge for quick resources to strike fast and surgically at the beginning of the game, almost like you're playing starcraft against a zerg player. sufficed to say, that took some getting used too.

Haha I played a few rounds yesterday and they were all over quickly, due to raiding/etc. Very different from playing against the AI, but I enjoyed it anyways. If you are ever on I'll play a match with those rules, it doesnt bother me.

Hello welcome to Fleet Ops if you ever see Shadow on ask him to help you get better at the game he one player i know that all ways help new players he all so a good player one best that still plays low you may find it hard to find games as the Dev are working on NX but not like your know that as like nothing ever happens nor do we get told anything one reason why lot people stop playing that iv talk to and it's a lot.

The last bit of news we got about NX on hows it going what's going on was from Dominus_Noctis going on 11 months ago and been over 3 year since the game got any kind of up date i guess you can see why lot people left 11 months with no news and 3 years+ since an update to the game.

If you wanna to get better you can all ways download Tryptic mod that is better the 3.2.7 and the AI is all so much better so playing them will help you more in team game well (IF YOU EVER FIND ONE) so good luck there.

P.S there is an A3 mod that you can play and i'm sure A4 & A5 be out be for we see NX or hear any news on NX again.

Well i wish you fun in Fleet Ops that's if you get a game that's not an AI game

Notice just smidgen of negativity?

Slight negativity, yes. But I know what its like to watch a game you enjoy slowly die, and its very frustrating. But cheer up none-the-less, if there are at least 2 people who still play the game, and they play it together, the game is alive!

presently i dont even have the game installed. but i do still check the website nearly every day, same with a few other star trek games. Excalibur for example. though i think the most annoying thing is being unable to help make the game. i feel like i have fragments of skills and knowledge that'd help, but unable to help with many of these games being developed. oh well, maybe one of these days they'll need an alpha tester XD

Eh, it would probably take longer for them to catch you up to where they are at, give you an assignment you could handle, and then double-check it to implement it into the game, than for them to just do it. But A2 has some easy parts to mod, if they divided out some of the .odf to others it might go faster, but thats if they dont do that already.

My wife and I play almost daily. We also have a weekly game setup with friends every Thursday. The game is far from dead!

sounds like fun Riker, and if someone destroys you too hard, Deanna can give you some "counseling"? xD

that said, if tuungle wasn't such an annoying program, i'd be tempted to join you. as is, i do most of my gaming through hamachi for ease of use. tuungle feels like an unholy combination of steam and hamachi.

Ha, sure! :D

We actually host all of our own games. I have never liked Tungle or Hamachi.

I agree tunngle is garbage. I use it though, just to play FO. I have hamachi as well though, if someone wanted to play through that. I'm hit or miss, and not very good, but If im "on" im up for a game usually!

@riker, how do you host your games? i'm assuming by your comment you do not use tuungle or hamachi, so how does one connect to you? cause i would actually be interested in joining you some time.

We use the Manual IP option. My computer serves as the host and I can allow up to 3 more people to connect and play. You just have to make sure that if you are going to host that you have the correct ports on your router forwarded. I wrote a section in the guide about it. http://guide.fleetops.net/guide/getting-online/gamespy

This is only needed if you are the one hosting. If you want to join a game that someone is hosting you need only their IP address.

Oh that sounds easy enough. If you hosted, I would be glad to play with you guys if you like. Ill be busy for the next few days I think, but definitely can later on in the week.
