Is there like one person who hosts? and everyone connects to them or not?

No, it works like a LAN connection. In order to join any game, you have to be part of the same network.

It does...what difference does that make? It's just a randomly assigned one simply for the purpose of the VPN; it's not your real one (which if you're concerned about hiding, just about anyone could get if they wanted to, simply by you using any website ever, including this one).

If you don't believe me, type "what is my ip" into google. Or whatever that lame search engine you use was.

I believe you i just wasn't sure if i had read that or not and dom made it look like it used your real address. And my search engine isn't lame. most likely its better than that crappy google you use. :P

I think it does give your real IP address mate. I can check when I get back, but I am pretty certain it does. Zebh can probably answer that question faster than I can though, so shoot him a message :)

Yes, the Wippien does reveal your real ip addres to the contacts you are connected to. But as DrPreceptron stated, usually it is not too difficult easy to find someone's ip address. This is especially true to programs that use P2P connections, like most of the VPN software does. If your computer connects directly to another computer the person on the other end will have no problem to find out the IP, even if it is not directly visible in problem.

Nevertheless I would feel better too if the IP wouldn't be visible

I'm not even sure what the big deal is if anyone else sees your computer's IP.  It isn't lik we are all hackers or anything.  But seriously.  What is the big deal.  I just don't understand networking well enough to know the real threat.

Any way, I should be up for a game in a couple of hours.

S'klar, if you use firewall for the Wippien virtual network adapter, you should have nearly same security as you would have when you are connected over internet. If you want to enhance its security  you can always white list only the ports that Armada 2 requires (I use this too), so any other ports may not be accessed, even if you have some programs that reserves ports for it to use and would be accessible over internet.

*sigh* Anyone able to install Wippien on Vista? I get the "Wippien network adapter not available. Proceed with IM only?" dialog.

I've found this link, but it's steps didn't work for me: Forum - Open source p2p VPN software - Wippien.

Other input?
