Hey there, with the ammount of FFA alliance games going on lately, i thought i'd ask how many of you, have made a pact with someone, only to stab them in the disrupter?

So the reason i ask i cuz i did this sunday night in a game. me and my ally and i were prepping for a final assualt, well he lost his base and decieded to give me all his resources, but accedently gave me a bunch of ships also. Well, instead of giving them back, i switched sides and massacred his entire fleet, abiet monstrously .

So as good of a kick as i got outta it, i still feel a little bad. Sorry Tok'ra

Anyways, so how many of youz are guilty of ze same thing?

I'm playing Klingons, not Romulans. Betrayal is not an option.

Only when it is necessary.
And it depends what race I play.

In war there is no more honorable thing then victory. It's usually best to attack the strongest, (sorry 23 xD )altough I wouldn't break treaties not just for the lulz of it.

even in non alliances mode ive somtimes force fired on an ally for lulz. i remember once my ally was making a cube and the enemy tried getting it during build, we stopped them just in time. then i force fired on the cube for fun, blowing it up. he quit. we were almost certainly gonna get the cube and win if i didnt, so i figured it would be a laugh.

I've done it!  but that was back when I actually played. :sweatdrop:  I think that was on one of those other programs, hamanchi or something, and back when Serpicious played.  Maybe like 3.0.5a?  It was a three player ffa, and me and the other guy teamed up to take out serp, and then my massive fleet just swept through the entire map!!

I played several of them back then and they didn't always turn out so well... :sweatdrop:

Either way, it was way before your time crisis.  :P

Haha well, it's FFA.  There is no allied victory, which means from the moment you ally with someone you should be thinking "when this is over I need to be able to defend myself from him.

If both of you could win then it would be different, but right now there's no such thing as a true ally in FFA.

I haven't played in a while, but the last FFA I was in the corner and I tried to team up with the 1 guy between me and the rest of the map, so he could screen for me while I built up.  Well, he refused so I ended up taking him down with the other players near him, but he'd been communicating with the other klingon on the far side of the map (he was klingon, I was Romulan).  So when it came time for my Norexan fleet to move on to other enemies, there was a Luspet/Kvort fleet waiting for it that hard countered it.  Even simple scouting information is powerful in an FFA, and you should share the secrets of the people near you with everybody else.  It makes them want to counter that person's fleet instead of yours, and people far away will put you at the bottom of the to-kill list.

hehe, in fact I play taq most of the time ;). Nevertheless, a deal is a deal.
But I'm not sure if I've really played the game style Crisis mentions. I only had alliance games where teams were fixed after game start or 3player FFAs. The first to lose in a 3player FFA most of the time suspects that the other players teamed up on him, which is usually nonsense. I wouldnt team up with someone in a 3player FFA and I wouldn't betray in larger alliance games, just because I wouldn't want others to do it with me ;).

The irony was we may have had a SLIGHT chance to survive and prehaps win if you had not done that.

I had a Veteran sensor nebula, so I could slowly replace warpins if nothing else as a method to support you, plus you had a cube, SOME of your base left, AND resources (or so you said) for yet another cube.

I could see betraying me once we were further along, but betraying your ally when you and said ally just got their butts kicked but have a chance, however sleight, to come back is just the height of silly.

after you quit, i made a quick pact with them so they could see me and i could see them, they had TONS of ships, and like 4 expans each, and i was missing like 20 supply for the cube, granted i could have built a supply station and slowly got it but i was tired and wanted to play a 1v1 and then some starcraft before going to bed, besides, i thought i'd be a little fun to betray somebody, IMO winning a FFA is no fun, its only fun when you sacrafice you ships in futile attacks and die horribly thereafter.

In FFA games I usually team up out of necessity or if other players are, but generally I only fight them after everyone else has lost or they become a threat. I only prepare for the eventuality of betrayal, (like cloaked fleets in the center of their bases ) but I almost never initiate it.

Yeah but imagine the fun we could have had if we had made a joint last stand :p .

Or talked them into leaving us alone because 'we were beat'.... then building you up while they beat eachother senseless :p .
