Hi there!
As I'm probably start playing fleetops online next weekend again (yeah, i bought a new router, thanks to Jan
) I need to ask you, what one should rather not do in FleetOps 3.1.2. Please be so kind and list all unfair, annoying, impolite and cheap tactics here.
Thanks in advance folks!

Is that updated for 3.1.2? Oh, i overlooked the word Dodecaedron ... so it IS up to date
Is that all? It seems so few to me.
Dominus, I am for adjavascriptvoid(0);ding a version number for each topic in the guide.

Hehe, well, on the Home Page of the guide, there is a very very special phrase
"Information is up-to-date unless otherwise stated."
.
That smart-aleky statement aside, the only parts of the guide not up to date are the Borg 1v1 Strategy section and the Mixed-Technology analyses (marked in big red letters that they aren't up to date)
. The information may still be somewhat accurate, but I haven't updated it since 3.0.7 + 3.1.1 and thus there are bound to be some errors

Here are some rules for online play in general:
1. Don't type in all caps... unless you are really irritated.
2. As hard as it may be, control your cussing. Excessively cussing doesn't make you sound more mature, it just makes you a 'Squeaker' (a term meaning little kids trying to sound like adults by cussing all the time, originated from Halo Online play).
3. Please, avoid using battleship spams, everyone hates them.
4. Do not bulldozer over a person if he begs you to go easy on him because of being a "slow builder". This simply just makes your reputation be a cruel one.
5. As fun as it may be, Starbase walls is not fair play. Avoid doing this unless you are against a bunch of AI Level 3 Computers.
6. No cheats, if you know of cheats that Doca forgot to disable in MP. Don't use them for the sake of fair play.
7. If you are wanting to talk to a specific person, use the Comm menu and have only him checked off. The last thing any of us want to hear is a couple of guys discussing if they should exchange gfs or some other personal thing.
8. If you are the only "Experienced" person in the game, hold back a small amount at least, some people easily get low self esteems.
9. If you have an aggressive reputation, at least warn some of the players that may not know for sake of courtesy.
10. Do not do the ram spam, as fun as it is, 90% of the people will hate you for it and won't play with you again because of pwning their cube with a bunch of bugs.
11. Please keep any perverted or explicit speech down to minimum or none. It is highly appreciated.
12. For those that love to turtle, please refrain from doing the infamous torpedo turret spam.
13. Refrain from doing the Dominion Dreadnought rush from the mix tech yard. It is just as nice as flipping them off.
14. Keep insults under control, some people may find it entertaining, but I don't like to listen to a verbal war between two players.
15. Oh... and one more thing, Dodec spams for now shall be refrained as there is a lack of counters.
16. If you have a suspicion your computer might be a carrier of a virus, refrain from online play until you are absolutely certain the virus/malware is removed.
17. Do not use Online play as a means of trying to hack someone's computer for whatever reaso0n there may be, it is unethical and illegal.
18. Do not be a troll.
19. Do no under any means insult Dominus' or funnystuffpicture's mothers, because they will then give you the brutal treatment if you do.
20. If you play with any of the devs, keep the conversation positive and avoid saying anything negative about fleetops. If you do, they will find you and blacklist you....

actually feel free to turtle, you will simply lose. turtling isnt strong in fo which is correct as its fleet ops not turret ops.

does that really need to be said?

thats a bad tactic anyway lol amassing units like the bomber will stop dreads.

ahhh man thats the only reason i installed tunngle, guess im off then.

where do u get the idea that our devs are mean people, from reading their forum posts they seem to be generally ok people. they dont ban people from the forums (which is all they control, they dont control tunngle/hamachie/gamespy etc) unless they violate the forum rules a lot, i've never heard of any person being banned on this forum before.

thats not an online rule lol. thats a forum rule, the devs call it no flaming. they only apply it to ad hominem arguments (where u attack a person instead of their ideas), they say argue against ideas not people. i agree tyler was a bit naughty here, but i think he was just having a little joke. but the point that long posts are frustrating is valid.

support refit cap? apparantly not lol.
sorry for double post

Quite a few things that probably need to be added to the guide, like that the dreadnough rush is being hated.
Haha, the first rule I'll try to disobey
I was nearly used to be crushed by dominus every game he was in and I still love it.

i dont hate dread rush. if someone dread rushes they are probably producing very few of anything else. so i can produce only the dreads counters.

A lot of Gamer's "Strategy" rules can kind of be thrown out the window I'm afraid.
3.1.2 is remarkably balanced and almost any strategy can be countered at this point. Many of us are hard at work to uncover the strats that really have no counter (like Dodec spam), but everything else is fair game
.
Dread rushes are fine, they are just easy to counter
. Spamming battleships is fine, you're just gonna get your ass eated by someone who knows how to counter you
.
Btw Gamer, I love how YOU created a huge list of online rules even though you can't play online
. Go get 'em, Tiger!!!
