Do you want a group stage for the tourney?

I promise, this is the last poll about the tourney. Some people liked the group stage in the last tourney, some people said me that, he already has some time issues. Let's vote about it!

Group stage means, that all participants will be organised in groups of 4. Everybody plays 2 matches with everybody. (6 matches per individual) The best 2 will make to the next round.

If we start with single elimination, that means half number of matches in the first round.

I kindly ask everybody, who is not signed up to the tourney, to not to vote. Thanks! :thumbsup:

i havnt voted as im not registered, i just wanted to voice my opinion:

i would prefer a system where everyone is in 1 big group. and plays 2 games vs every other player. this would take a lot of time, but give fairer results. kinda like a league in a sport.

say a win gives u 2 points, and losing gives you none. no draws are possible lol.

the player with the most points at the end wins. a tie then goes to an elimination match.

Well, I think we might consider this idea too. I have done some math. Myles suggestion means 30 matches per individual (with the 16 competitor who already signed up) I might take a lot of time, and pretty hard to administrate, but I'm completely up for it if the community agrees.

If we play a single elimination with a first group stage that means 39-47 matches at all (a bit more with loosers bracket)

If we play a single elimination only tourney that will mean 31- 47 matches at all.
It means that the losers will play much less, but the everybody who makes close to the top, will play almost as many as with Myles's "league" idea.

I like the idea, that everybody plays with everybody, too bad I can't give anoter poll option about it.

I think having to play against everyone could make it more difficult? I know that people had trouble playing games with just 5 other players. Having to play against 16-18 would be very difficult. Hala's style was more like a poker tourney. He was also able to put all the reputed "good players" in one field, to make it a little easier on some of the newer players.

the league idea would be easy at the start as everyone would have loads of people to play against, and there would be plenty of people online that u need games with.

near the end it would require people being online at the same time.

it would take weeks to accomplish though, like a real league does. but it would definitely show the skilled players near the top.

Yeah, it seems the "league" would take too much time for almost everyone.

I tink the first round will be a group stage (exactly like it was in the summer tourney) as it reduces the role of luck a bit, and "I'm having a bad day, and got instantly knocked out because of that" kidna effects, but doesn't really takes much more time than a fully single elimination firs round.

I like the groups, though 4 people is probably as large as they should be. It helps ensure everyone gets a few tournament games in and keeps a silly loss from kicking you out of the tourney in the first round. :thumbsup:
