Here you can arrange online encounters and reminisce over past online battles.

Has anyone else encountered where sometimes you could play one game but after that you cannot reconnect? I just encountered that today.

Well, gamespy is not a perfect solution for online gaming. Hamachi is way much better, but people just don't know how to operate it. There could be a guide somewhere here how to do it and a global network for fleetops players.

I was wondering if there is an easy-instant way.

One question that I have is... Has the Devs ever thought of having their own Game servers? Because to me, at least I won't have to be paying these other guys to support my game using their servers which are only half reliable (in a personal perspective). To me I think the Devs are better off having their own game servers.  :sweatdrop:

To play on gamespy you'll be needing a good connection. I Have 4Mbp/s and a person that is having a similar connection won't have any problems during game, like lags. But if 1 person has a bad internet connection or lags etc. then the whole game lags like hell. Very similar to Starcraft. As for the instant way, manual IP (must have outside IP to host) 1 person creates and gives the other person the IP number. Second way, and I think the best solution - hamachi.

Well I have a connection that is good as long as only one computer uses it, when it comes to multiple even a simple web page takes a long time to load. Like that, I use the internet on a daily basis and I'm fine when noone else is on. But if there are mltiple units using the net that it is just as close to frozen as you can get... But other than that it is Porche fast (not Farari or lightning, just Porche).

To me I think that FO should have its own servers just for FO. That way the Devs won't need to be paying Lamespy to support their game. All of the money would go to themselves. Plus this would also eliminate the need of having to deal with legal terms of other people supporting their mod.

Creating own servers is quite difficult I think. 1st - Money requirements for maintaining servers (and to do them) and internet connection. 2nd - Don't possibly know how would they do it :) 3rd - There may be problems with copyrights, though this is a mod, not their own game.

Would it not be possible to create a game server using Hamachi, not the free version but the paid for version which does not have that 16 person limit.  Simply put aside a spare computer constantly running the registered version of Hamachi, and everyone connects to that one whenever they want to play, then simply use the LAN lobby (unless it wouldn't work that way, I don't know too much about Hamachi personally).
This would obviously cost some money though, for the server, maintenance, internet connection and the registered version of Hamachi, but way I see it, it is a bit of a work-around.

I might be able to get access to a paid version of Hamachi... cough...cough... dunno if it'll work though... I can try and see and then send the .exe... maybe

I can't get a paid version since I'm currently trying to save up for something. I'm not that rich. Besides, don't they get paid by them compainies by showing their advertisements?
