Hello all, I just installed this game.  Anyways I played my first online match today and I asked the guy I was facing to take it easy, seeing as how I really am new to the game.  Anyways everything is going normally and 3 minutes into the game he sends a massive fleet against me and completely owns me, he was playing as the Klingons.  Now I'm not sure if everyone is like that in this game, but that seems completely rude to me.  Ive been lurking the forums for awhile, and everyone seems nice in the forums, but if people are like that online, I cant seem the community getting much larger then it is, which is sad, cause this game is awesome.

I wonder who did that.  That doesn't seem like most of the players around here.  That's another thing about the Klingons too is that they are massive spammers and a giant fleet isn't hard to come by.

Don't take it too hard either way, cus there are a lot of people around here that would be glad to help you cream the guy that was nasty.  You might also want to look at the strategy guides that have been coming out recently, it might help.

Oh, and Welcome to the Forums!

You'll find that many players who play online are not in the forums. We have players of different strengths and natures. Dont take it to heart.

I dont think a klingon fleet could do anything heavy at the outset... did he come at you with vorchas or Luspets late in game or a few Bops early on....  If it literally was 3 mins in game, a few bops would do nothing... perhaps he/she knew that and was simply amusing himself/herself...

what race were you playing?

Often first timers are even invited to obersrve games, to get to know the basic things you havt to take care of. Some people even try to comment the game for newbies.

In other cases they watch you and give you warnings, if you e.g. don't watch your expansion. So you just had bad luck with that guy.

I personally suggest you to start with team games, so you can't be blowed off too easily, and some advanced players will guide you through the game. E.g. I started playing online under the wings of serpicus, who provides very good communication inside a team.

Hi and welcome to the forums! ^-^

I can only second the others in this post. I do not expect such a behaivor of the people you can talk about here in the forums. However we cant guarantee that there are no egomaniacs out there.
You could try arranging a "learning game" in the online section of the forum or reading through the very informative guides posted recently in the strategy section. I'm sure the community members here in the forums will be happy to help you.

Happy .. ..
well usually i put something like "happy moding" "happy fraging" or something at the end of my post, but is there a verb for "playing a strategy game"? well lets end with:

Happy Fleet Operating :sweatdrop:
