You still need to forward the port, otherwise you aren't going to see large portions of the people in Tunngle :)

What he said. You will only see only half the people if you dont use a static ip and port forwarding. I see 99% of people in the channel, 1% being Dominus :)

...which is really frustrating, because both of us have forwarded port 11155  :crybaby: . My routers always given me problems though - so no real surprise there

Having the "Host has been lost" issue for months:

I have a Netgear Soho router.

Even tried DMZ: It does reset my DMZ-settngs everytime I relad the page. Might this have soumething to do with the nonexistance of an WAN-IP adress (it is 0.0.0.0 at the moment)?

I have portforwarder 11155 in both direction for both protocols (EDOT: In the Filters page)
I have uPnP enabled

EDIT: I have two very similar pages there: Can someone tell me the difference between these:

~Filters: Use this screen to create and apply filters that can selectively allow traffic to pass in and out of your network. If no filters are enabled, all traffic will be blocked.

~Special Apps: Use the Special Apps screen to allow certain ports to communicate with computers outside your network. This feature may be necessary for special applications like online gaming and video conferencing.

If port forwarding doesnt work why dont you try port triggering instead? So if you have a trigger option in your router try that out. it helped for me.

Can you tell me more about it? I can't see a port triggering anywhere.

Forther .. is it normal that you Computer starts lagging when you run tunngle?

I ge the message "Cant configure port forwadring using UPNP" on Tunngle startup.

In this case a DirectX log would be helpful

XP: click Start - Run type dxdiag click OK. Wait until the program is loaded, then, on the bottom of the window, click Save All Information... save the file and attach it to the forum please.

Vista/7: click the Start Button on the taskbar. In the search box type dxdiag. Press Enter key. Wait until the program is loaded, then, on the bottom of the window, click Save All Information... save the file and attach it to the forum please.

Ray never did what DOCa Cola said. And no one payed attention for this particular post for  that matter.
You guys are blind.  :sweatdrop:

It's simply what the tunngle FAQ / support website tells you. Try to read through that. They also link to a page with a selection of routers that show how to configure that particular router. You may check out whether your router is listed there?

PortForward.com - Port Forwarding for Tunngle

and now, it's not normal when it starts lagging. And the message at tunngle start up means that you configured your router wrong.

i may have found another "homeopathic" cure for the host lost issue:
it appears when player a that cannot be seen by player b on tunngle is in a fo game.
b tries to join that game and gets the host lost message.

restarting tunngle doesn't help, restarting the pc sometimes does.
it seems that the virtual ip from tunngle is cached, and has some issue with the other player's ip.

now, one way to force tunngle to renew the ip is to simply change into another room.
this worked for a friend, but still not 100% verified.

just fyi.

i have the same problem i can only see about 45% of the people on tunngle. i did the firewall, the port forward i try diff ports, i try upnp. but in the end with much digging around i have found the problem and it can not be fixed ....you see some internet providers block some ports on there end or do not have the port open all the time. well this is the problem i have and i just thought it might shed some light on the tunngle problem.

I sometimes have to play on different computers at home (when my wife needs the gaming rig for example) and i had to change the router settings because the router doesn't allow multiple identical port forwards for different IP addresses or IP ranges.  However, it does support UPNP and after enabling that on the router I found that I could play from any machine (where I had UPNP running) to play without bothering with port forwarding.

Not sure if this is of any help but maybe worth trying.
