Today, I want to talk about the only real warship - pardon, tactical escort - of the Federation fleet: The Defiant.

Sounds nice. :)

does attack patterns grant the defiant increased dodging of weapons?

which ships will the defiant synergise with? would it be other fast/off profile ships? it's hard to imagine a galaxy class behemoth joining a quick attack run.

How will the synergy work? how would one tell the synergised group of ships to target 1 specific ship, or to target more than 1?

So we are adding random Crits to an RTS? Interesting... I hope it doesn't replace skill with luck too much.Regardless, I seriously can't wait for the next patch!

"an almost for sure disable effect on the primary target" does this also include Borg vessels?

Up until now Borg vessels have been very resistant to any disabling effects. B.t.w. i love the Defiant eye candy.

that was announced already. all offensive ships get a chance to do AoE damage. it takes away from the current norm where you put the majority of your effort into micro-ing away the one ship taking fire, then rinse and repeat for the next ship that gets attacked.

Attack Patterns doesn't increase the dodge ratio - we try to keep each ability unique - but it does synergize with Defensive units :)

Thank you for keeping the weapon disabling aspect. Aside from occasionally using the shield buff from the Sovereigns the only other ability that I micro is the Defiant. The Defiant class is my favorite Starfleet vessel because its one of the few Federation ships that wasn't designed and built by weenies. Glad to see that it is getting some extra goodies. :)

Cisko was a weenie. Come on, having to resort to violence when facing a Q?
A real captain would have stopped him cold with a witty remark.

Article is now referenced on the Unofficial FO Wiki.

Looks interesting. I wonder how long the ability lasts.

Just when you thought the FO Defiant couldn't get anymore bad@$$...nice. These synergies will be fun to play with for sure.

Is there any chance of adding a special where Worf and Sisko board the enemy ships and kill off half the crew? That could be useful for getting those borg assemblers which are always a bitch to get because they have 100,000,000,000 crew.

So, a reduction to the ability to disable the weapons of enemy vessels, in return for occasional AE bursts and buffing allied vessels with a weapon disabling effect.

On the whole, a slight net loss for the Federation, I think, but a win for the game. Critical Shot was a bit too good of an ability.

"Tough little Ship"
William Riker

I like all this improvement, specially how the Defiant is getting close to the one in the series, a very offensive ship how it should be.

Next patch is looking better and better. And closer to release I hope

As an aside from this, when are we going to get the Sovereign blog? :P
