Not exactly, but the similarities are there.

In Armada mode, two or more players control the same start location.  What I'm wondering is if players control different start locations, but are on the same team and of the same faction, will they be able to share the technology tree.

Xnumberofkills? Prototypical borg adaption could be acomplished with this, I.E. Kill so many units to unlock the ability to refit a vessel to adapt it, thats a very low imagination use of this idea, but you get my point right?

Maybe the kills could unlock the research? Are the kills tied to a specific ship, or is the counter faction-wide?

judging by the sophistication, it could be each ship unique, making each ship get so many number of kills to acheive adaption.

The Borg should be able to adapt as a whole, though, because that's how they roll.

it would mean the adaption is just a small percentage and posibly that the borg have less counters.

so that if the borg have adapted to a certain ship (you could make the adaptation limited to a type of borgship as a shield/hull responds diferently to diferent weapons) the other player could start building another type of ship. so only after a really long game the borg have adapted to most of the enemy ships.

Seeing as the Borg already have partial adaption (a very similar ability), I don't think it would be that hard.

if we make use of the feature at some point, don't worry about the balancing now :)
as of now i only added a todo for it as available modding option for the techtree

It seems a misunderstanding on my part. However if this feature is ever introduced in mainstream FO then i propose the addition of a dedicated federation troopship (perhaps a miranda.. there's plenty of those around in DS9)
