wouldnt be a open-beta more effective?

I think it would too, however I respect the decision that has been made. I mean...to be quite honest a lot of the MOST active members do not have the beta.

Not really. If its open no one of the "beta-testers" will make reports... I speak from my own experience(with a mod with ST Legacy)
And many pl dont get it thats a beta with bugs in it... Course of that they make bad comments = your motivation is gone.
Really they dont read the readme.

hm, true, didnt think about that, to be honest.
while you're speaking of legacy.. is there really ppl playing this game anymore? i just saw myself straight after the release completing the story and threw it in the trashbin. i dunno.. the ship handling was the worst ive ever played, with all this "command overriding cause holding the button to long" and all that..

I'm perfectly fine about it being closed. Though...you know what's interesting? SOOO many of us said that this is something that's worthy of being paid for, right? And now that it's come in an almost-paying for type of thing, only a few of us will do it. Interesting...
I know it's not QUITE the same thing....but I still find it interesting.

Flops wasn't supposed to be a commercial front and Optec has stated that it isn't.

Btw Scarface, no offense or anything.


However, someone who is in the beta...will be biased since they donated for it.

Besides, I know for a fact, me and several other non-beta posters posted frequently about balance and other issues related to the main game. As far as I can tell...a lot of newcomers to the forums who simply donated are the main 'beta contributors' when in reality they simply got there by donating.

I'm not saying this is unfair, it is absolutely fair! However, a more effective beta would be run by having good contributors posting in the beta forum...instead of those who open up paypal.

I just heard that Fleetops is never coming out, It was just a joke there is no bata it was all a lie.

We all just go to the new bata section and make fun of those how think there is a new bata.

I guess docas gonna get mad now that I let the fringy out of the bag.

Oh, I didn't meant that it should be a commercial front. I was just saying that I noticed how some of the people who said that they would pay for it, didn't.

Well, a lot of people would pay for the full version...and I was actually going to donate for paypal, but since Fleet Operations *should* be coming out in 2008, I decided to wait.

If they have not donated now they will have less of a motivation to donate  when it comes out. For me I have just given up hope from them donated any time in the short term including after it comes out.

Eater you donate or you don't. The money go's back to those how put so munch work in to what you may get 2 or 3 hours of fun out of 3-5 times its about giving some thing back for the all the blood, sweat and tears that went in to fo. Its not relay much to ask people pay munch more for munch less.

All they are asking is for the equivalent to 5$ US.

Yeah but the fact remains that most of the people who donated recently, did it just to get the beta, so they could play the game a few weeks earlier... and I bet that most of them don't even write up buglists or anything like that.

I am going to donate, but I am deliberately waiting until the full version is released, because I'll be doing it to support the team and do my bit for the upkeep of the site etc.

You pulled that one out of your arse. They never said how much to donate. So if one would donate 50 cents or 50 dollars it does not matter.

Ive said a long time ago Im gonna donate when v3 comes out. The fact that they said that donators will beta test is a good marketing move on their part and its a good thing people are donating. Thats it really, like it or hate it.

Go a head and donate 50c. That is a masher of how much you are willing to give to the fo team for there hard work 50c well that could be taken as a insult if doca was did not no better. Thats way I said 5$. but if you wont to wast your time for 50c be my guest.

I can say what I have seen from the bata section is amazing stuff worth 30$ or more but its up to you.

I didnt say I will donate 50c lol. What I said was: The team never gave any figure when people donate, basically its up to you and how much u can afford. When u say one has to donate in equavilent of 5USD its just your imagination that made that up.
No where does it say how much must a person donate, one can donate 1M USD if he wants but also someone can donate 50c and also be considered beta tester. Thats all I was saying.

And I dont like to argue, in fact I wasnt arguing at all. I was just correcting your mistake because I saw u post something similar b4.
