Ok... So first off i want to thank Zap, Zaxxon, Megaman, and dominus for helping me beta test the first version today. And out of all the issue with the mod we adressed.. this is the only one that merits a poll... mainly because its that key in the gameplay... and that is resawning.

You see, the current issue is, as hard as your are to kill, the likely hood of at least 1/3 of the players dying in the first 5 minutes of the games is crazy.. And as dominus put it, the game becomes increibly shallow. even though the potential for a ton of depth is there, i won't be reached because half of the people will die to early to reach that potental. So in liue of that, i present the following mecahnic as an option for inclusion into the mod.

Functioning respawn mechanic:
On the yard, when you place it down, i will put a replace weapon that has the capability to manufacture you ship anew. it would be capped a 1 so only when you die, would your new ship be born. The unlimited ability would use the currently unused metal resource (in my mod, but CC's anyone) to keep track of how many lives you have left. using 1 point of metal each time you respawn. Metal would be naturaly unobtainable. except in one instance. you would be able to purchase addtional lives at your yard for 1500 supply each. this would be the most expensive thing your capable of bying in the game. each addition live you buy would increas your supply drain, making it harder to buy more. and ultimamtely denying immortality. and At max, you would start with 3 life points.

So..... Would you as a player, prefer short games filled with few surviing players... or would you lke to see longer games populated by the full starting (and self replensing) ranks?

My first thought was "Shorter games are ok. I will just have to get better to make sure I survive." But, then I remembered multiplayer. How could I forget. :pinch: Single player without respawn would be fine with me, but in multiplayer having a respawn option will go a long way to help newer players stay competitive and and offer more comeback opportunities.

the best solution would be to allow adjusting the lives, so that shorter games are forced by setting lives low, and longer games made by setting lives higher. that way everyone's happy.

the mechanic itself i voted yes for, as it's interesting.

yeah i figued i could limit this feature further by use of the resourse options... ie... have a hard core void mode, that has no extra lives.. a casual mode, that has llike 3, and if i can add another option, or alter unlimited resources, a Deathmatch mode, with above avrage starting resources and like 10 lives,,, being meant for pure PvP combat. see my goal with these features is to enable you to change the conditions of the game,, while not drasticly altering the balence. allowing for fun and innovative game types that span both pure PvP, normal PvE, and true alliance FFA

I think respawning would be a really great unique feature, especially if you had only one life or so.

I maintain that if respawning is done well, then we could have the potential for lots of options for playstyle and gametype.
