Poll: BSG mod name

So what about the previous popular suggestion, Fleet Operations: The Cyrannus Conflict?  Cyrannus is the galaxy in which bsg exists.

Oh, I didn't realize beyond the red line was already in use. And yes, having battlestar in the name somewhere would help, I'd agree.

Battlestar Fleet Operations: (title)
Fleet Operations: Battlestar (plus rest of title)
Fleet Operations Battlestar: (title)

As for Cyrannus... I'm a big BSG fan, and I didn't even know about that being the galaxy. It reminded me of star wars at first, (galactic battles also sounds very star wars ish to me) wasn't there a lord tyrannus? or something like that. Cyrannus could be mistaken for a person. I think you'd just get a lot of questions about what/who is Cyrannus? Once people know though, it might be ok.

Putting battlestar in the name like above I think would easily help with the recognition of BSG. There are very few phrases you could insert without battlestar that would scream BSG, unless you wanted to put frak in there somehow. Red line I thought was pretty good but I see now its already taken, twelve colonies would work, lords of kobol, temple of five, anything cylon, but I wouldnt want the name to be either cylon or colonial specific, picking one of the colonies Caprica something or other.

But if you just put battlestar in there, you could make anything your title, and at least the reference would be immediately understood as being to BSG.

What about like Starblade mentoined?  Fleet Operations: Resurrection  or Fleet Operations: Worthy of Survival?

Those are more bsg than broken accord.

If they're alongside the Trek races, why not Battlestar: New Home or something like that? They'd be trying to set up shop in the Alpha or Beta Quadrent.

It would probably look better in Latin, though.

Worthy of Survival absolutely is a good BSG reference. Adama quote, there was also a song called worthy of survival  Bear McCreary. I'm not sure about resurrection though. I mean, obviously ressurrection hub and all - cylon resurrection, but it might be to specific. It would be like saying Fleet Operations: Pegasus. Pegasus was a ship... but it doesn't really reflect the entirety of BSG. Sort of only represents the cylons.

Survival surely does.. thats a constant throughout the whole series. I was going to suggest something with the early armory, what was it Ragnar Station? but I thought that was to specific as well... Unless that was a big part of your mod. There was nothing to suggest that it was a main base though was there? It was just kind of in the middle of no where, but well protected from cylon detection so a good place to hide.

If you wanted, you could also research the episode titles. If a title was sufficiently similar to an episode name (that reflects your mod), people who know the titles would get the reference.

Really not liking the inclusion of battlestar in the title eh? I don't see how that could have any unwanted side affects for your mod, but if you don't want the BSG reference to be that explicit I suppose that's fair enough.

Another song was Prelude to War. Unfortunately this is not BSG specific at all (could be any war). But in the series, I'm fairly sure its the song that accompanies the scenes when Cain is about to execute the chief and Helo, and Adama engages Pegasus with threat of Viper/Raptor attack. It's a song thats like 10 min long in the show. Long number of scenes. So with that I think mentioning Battlestar would really help with reference.

Worthy of Survival, so far is the best BSG reference though for the most part, if you really don't want battlestar, or BSG or anything in the title.

Edit: Come to think of it, there was an episode called A Measure of Salvation. They found a way to use a biological weapon against the cylons to wipe them out, and therein lies the ethical dilemma reflected in the theme of worthy of survival. If they used it, they sort of proved the cylon notion of being judged unfit for survival, and adamas own  uncertainties about his race. But I still think something like this title would also need battlestar in the title.

The majority of the music compilation I use is actually called Prelude to war

The reason I don't like battlestar is because only colonials have battlestars and this mod is for both.  Resurrection worked because the colonials were resurrecting their lives considering caprica was/wasn't destroyed.

Worthy of survival might be it then.

Yes, but Battlestar is more referencing the show than the individual battlestars.

I can appreciate not wanting to show favourites between colonials and cylons, but IMO Battlestar if in the title like so Fleet Operations Battlestar: more suggests that this is a BSG mod of FO, and the title after is what directly represents the mod itself. It's like when Star Trek is used in game titles. Star Trek signifies the show, not a bias for  humans in the show who go star trekking. It's not like there was ever a focus on the way Klingons, Romulans, and Cardassians first took to the stars. Star Trek is just immediate association to the show and everything in it.

However, either way, yes. I certainly think Worthy of Survival would be a definite contender. In the end, without battlestar, I don't think Prelude to War, or Measure of Salvation would really stand out. I leave it to your discretion. Worthy of Survival certainly describes BSG. This though, is about colonials being worthy. But in the end, both cylons and colonials must prove it, I think.  So it works both ways. (ie, as soon as the final five arose, cylons started to redefine their decisions in terms of how it would be judged by the final five, many showed more concern for the way they treated the humans, also after the war heros Caprica 6 and Boomer)

Yeah, I think Worthy of survival is the best that discribes BSG without saying Battlestar in it. 

The thing is, the show was about the Battlestar Galactica.  Though my mod is based off of what was shown in that show, it really has nothing to do with that ship or what was with that ship(at this point )  In fact, the mod focuses not even on just the colonials, but the cylons too.  i like more universal names that apply to the show, but not specificly to one side, or one ship, or one type of ship.   Not that I am opposed to them, but unless I so no other option, I will try to avoid Battlestar in the title.

That being said, i think you have convinced me that the title must reflect the show in such a way that you can recognize this as a bsg mod by the name.

I think Fleet Operations: Worthy of Survival has my vote then.

You said you had the Prelude to War music right? There is also a Worthy of Survival song. Bear McCreary did almost all of the BSG songs for the most part. They also used a song by Philip Glass.

But we need another suggestion! Otherwise Worthy of Survival wins it without a vote! haha, I dunno. See if their are any other suggestions, if none work without Battlestar, then I  think Worthy of Survival would do nicely.

Like I said earlier, I don't think Battlestar necessarily depicts a side or ship, just acts as a reference to the show. Since Fleet Operations is Star Trek specific so far, I think Battlestar would help to distinguish it. 

If there was still to be a vote, I guess I would suggest the following as candidates, although again, they include Battlestar. To give a taste of what the options could look like I've named some below.

Fleet Operations Battlestar: Prelude to War
Fleet Operations Battlestar: Measure of Salvation
Fleet Operations Battlestar: Worthy of Survival
Fleet Operations: Worthy of Survival

I don't know if you'll find anything better than worthy of survival without a direct Battlestar reference. I don't have to many ideas in  that regard. I threw in Battlestar with Worthy of Survival as well, just to see the difference. So it's kind of a trade, without battlestar I think the phrases or titles you could use are really fairly limited. With Battlestar, I think there could be a fair number.

Yeah, I think I have worthy of survival bits in there but it is basically just the fighter combat drums. 

Though those other suggestions are good, I still think Worthy of survival sounds the most BSG.

Yeah I'd agree. Worthy of Survival works well. Without Battlestar it gets fairly difficult to remain fair to both colonials and cylons. Even something like Fleet Operations: Set Condition 1 or Fleet Operations: Condition 1 would be something I was going to suggest... but only colonials use that catch phrase.

The cylon side isn't really represented well until the 3rd and 4th seasons. Not much to work on to find similarities.

In the end, when I think about the series, what finally joins the two forces and ultimately shows they have something in common are a search for Earth, the concept of a one true God, and continuation of both by having babies like Hera. lol but none of those makes for a good title. But with Hera there is idea of survival.

EDIT: Just for the sake of suggestions and ideas. Since its really the only thing I can think of without the need for Battlestar. Here are two other choices:

Fleet Operations: Action Stations
Fleet Operations: Set Condition One

or

Fleet Operations: Worthy of Survival

I realize the first two favour Colonials lol almost exclusively. But as for setting the tone of being a BSG mod, I think they do that tremendously well.
