 I overdid it with the title.
I don't even think that this could be considered a mod, but it is a demo of whatever it is, to see if people think I should finish it.
Yes, my absence from FO has not been in vain.
This ''mod'' will allow your speech to influence your FO game, using a program called SHOOT.
You need SHOOT installed on your computer to make this work at all, so here is the link

[glow=red,2,300]http://clans.gameclubcentral.com/shoot/downloads.php[/glow]

Download SHOOT 1.6.4

You may also need this, a .NET framework (1.1)

[glow=red,2,300]http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A8F5654F-088E-40B2-BBDB-A83353618B38&displaylang=en[/glow]

Once you have both of those things ready, and can run SHOOT, go into the directory and get to the Profiles section.

Make a copy of one of the profiles, edit it, then copy the entire post below (Minus signatures and such), and place it in the profile edit screen. Just run FO, and it should work.

SHOOT is a program that allows a voice to triger a series of keys to be pressed on the computer. This did not take long to make, and I did not use the beta profile editor that you may have seen (I didn't untill just now :sweatdrop:)

It is a fed only mod for now, you can play other races with it, and it might work, but SHOOT cannot be specific to things like:
If you tell and Eraudi Yard to make a saber class, it will make a soverign class. If you tell a ship to make a soverign class, it will stop. If you tell an outpost to make a saber class, it will make a venture class.
That is because they all are commands based on the letter S.
Same with excelsior II and explore.

I also do not have much in the way of repeated commands. For the most part there is only one way to say something, (Mandril Class, Starfleet Command) The build prefix is not neccecary, and also does not work. I did not know FO did not use B for a Build menu.

However, there is a few, such as Condition Green and Stand Down, both using green alert.
Also Board, Boarding Party and Transport

(numpad 0 toggles it off)
One more note, Vista Users using SHOOT should set it to an administrator, because SHOOT seems to forget what you sound like every time you use it if you don't

EDIT: fixed the .NET framework link

Nice.  I'm looking forward to commands such as "Initiate pattern Delta Five!", which makes all your sabers encircle the enemy at maximum range. B)

That would only happen if the Circle command was brought back, but it could be done if it was.

One problem that is kind of limiting is a lack of shortcuts to special weapons though. If this happens to be popular, some "unorthadox" shortcuts to some special weapons ( like Shift k or alt p , ctrl n, even ctrl shift a ) would allow the comands to be accesed by voice, even if no one would actualy use the short cut because it would be rediculous.

One thing I forgot, was you may see I have 10 build saber commands, for building 1 through 10.
This would not work in FO on my computer, though in a word program it would make 10 S's
I tried lengening the time between each S, but it still did not work. I removed the delays because eventualy, I would say "Ten Sabers", and wait to see if it would work, move on to other ships, move on to yet other ships, and then the last ships would acnowledge a stop order, because S is Stop as well.

EDIT fixed 10 Phlanx glich
(Perhaps that could be changed... or not)

If this "Plural" sabers works for any of you though, please tell me. I suspect it is just lag from my computer.

Edit:
I found a way for plurals to work, and did them for all Mason and Risner ships. The federation has been voice-ified.
I will probably do the rest anyway, but does anyone want me to?

EDIT fixed 10 Phlanx glich

yes please, cant wait to try this out :p

do you have a list of all the commands?

When you open shoot, then put in the profile, the list of commands come up. They are all mostly straightforward, Special weapons free is full SP autonomy, Special weapons at 50 % is medSPA , special weapons at my mark is no SPA. Those are the only hard ones I can think of.

Also I guess could be put in here are requests, for a certain thing,
Such as a battlegroup at a shipyard, EG: Siege group
2 Norway class, 3 intrepids, 3 sabers,1 Canaveral.
Probably not the most Ideal seige group, but that is a full 10, and all you would have to say is Siege group.

Also in my first internet test of the program, it lagged up to 10 seconds once at the very end of the game, but it never messed up. (I said defiant though, when the word was 'Defiant class'. It made 9 defiants instead. But that was me messing up so basicaly it is 100% correct, dispite the low speed)

It went fast at the begining though, mabey faster than finding the keys.

It does not change the fleet ops program in any way. You open up SHOOT, click file, then open, then find my profile, that is on the fourm post. My first posting of it I forgot about the file hosting on the fourm :sweatdrop:. Just put that in the profiles folder on SHOOT, then open it when you run.

All it does is trigger voice commands to keys. It can be done with (almost) any program running, some have interfered with it.
