Why the heck would you go and do that? No need to get ticked off about people's replies - just go and mod it :) . Not everybody posts (or posts on topic) in The Undying Nephalim's threads about Sigma, and the same for Blade's "Armada 2 re imagined" or for that matter the recent other Cardassian mod for Fleet Ops, OR even the BSG mod! I'm quite sad that you'd decide to pull the plug so quickly just because a few people posted off topic comments.  :( That's what you have to expect when you post in the Fleet Ops site after awhile - most people go in assuming that it isn't all that different from Fleet Ops proper, so they'll express their wishes there :)

Dude your post was a little bit confusing why are you getting so mad? I looked at your pictures and i think what you have done so far is nice. I would like to play it someday if decide to go ahead and make if for FO.

Darn, I was looking forward to your handiwork in FO :(  It is true though, a TON of people want the cardies in FO though, so ideas about it would be a major focus of the community for almost any mod.  Most of the Cardi mods have failed though...  Thats one of the reasons why I chose BSG :innocent:(that and I nevah watched ds9, so i have no idea about them)

I wish you wouldn't pull the plug though :(  i love FO mods.  FO seems to make for some of the coolest features and graphics.

@ Dricome

He runs his own modding site, and has a ton of mods in progress, I am not suprised he is cutting some, but I wouldn't take his post as angry. :sweatdrop:

Well with an entire page of posts only a couple were actually about the mod the thread was about and a couple were mine showed me that doing the mod wasn't worth the effort, especially considering I started first on a standard A2 version which is about 60% complete and about 99% model wise complete. Doing a FO option would be a lot more work due to the odfs, and while I like the idea last thing I would want to do is do the mod then have people complain because it doesn't fit in with the stock FO game, or that it doesn't have three avatars or what not.

As for being mad I'm not, disappointed and let down a little personally if I was mad you would certainly know. I don't hold back when I go. Something that doesn't happen often thankfully.

Also Zaxxon is correct, I have a few projects in the works, including COE, Yesteryears, Midway Fan Fiction, PRP modelling (Battlestar Galactica and other non-Trek models, which is almost complete) and Midway Modelling. Not to mention keeping a fairly major site in the A2 community running and having two kids that take up a bit of time considering it's school holidays at the moment.

:( was looking forward to it. Happy modding on the other projects

nevertheless, feel free to post links here in the FO forum. I take the freedom to provide the MSFC link

The Fleet Ops community is quite large - just because you get a few negative or off topic responses doesn't mean that other people aren't interested. How many of the most active people did you see posting off topic in this thread after all? I think it's hard to expect instant praise and crowds of people salivating at the prospect of a new mod. Look at Adm. Zaxxon's BSG mod - 7 or so different posters in over 10 pages of threads. SEVEN. That's not representative of this community at all. Blade's mods likewise get *little* attention from the majority of the forum population. The great sum of 'us' enjoys lurking and reading rather than direct posting. Isn't that the case with MSFC and AII files as well? There are only a handful of posts per week on those sites in relation to modding, but you haven't dropped mods there. I don't understand how you can be disappointed frankly - the thread got responses, and as the quote goes, any publicity is good publicity :) . Many threads die without even receiving a single comment. I hope you decide to change your decision, as new mods and new ideas are always welcome.

Incidentally, it may be wise to stick that link and a stronger explanation of MSFC directly in your signature. You'd be surprised how many people say "what's that" when I tell them of the site  :sweatdrop:

In regards to what has been said about the community not always posting...that is true....I for one am more of a lurker radther than a poster and so are a great many others. Im sad to see that the plug is being pulled on COE for FO....but it is understandable.

It's hard to base much on what the community posts.  We have lurkers galore, cyclic posters, prolific posters, sporadic posters, and some that almost never post at all, but post just enough to not really be a lurker.

Honestly, I think the project sounds good.

I would have said something earlier, but frankly, I almost never check this part of the forum.

Hey Maj, fancy meeting you here. :whistling:

I can see what you mean about the effort to convert to FO mid mod being a big hurdle when you already have so much for A2. Perhaps making a FO port that makes use of the new features once the main mod is finished would work. Personally, I'll be happy as long as the mod is finished at some point, whether it's for FO or A2.

Thank you all for taking the time to post.

Yes there are always ups and down in activity on any site, however I've found on MSFC that all threads are generally posted in about the topic, rather than posting stuff that has nothing to do with it. That's what I found disappointing, not that there wasn't a lot of posts, but most of them had nothing to do with COE.

As for not putting the link up about MSFC, I didn't want to be seen as advertising as many sites don't allow it and rightfully so as they don't pay for a site so others can use it as an advertising page.

But if it's okay and indeed encouraged, I can add it to my signature and say a bit about it, or make a thread. MSFC supports various games and mods and will happily host FO mods that members do, so they can easily be found rather than having to dig through posts.

I am still potting away with COE for normal A2. Perhaps down the track someone may want to convert it to FO, which I'd be happy for them to do. However I'll only be doing COE for standard A2 at this date with no plans to make it for FO. So for the Cardassians are the only race I am planning with COE, however I do really want to do a Dominion and Federation race.

Definitely keep us updated, Majestic.  I'd love to see more screenshots.

I'd encourage you to think about converting it to FO some time in the future.  Once you learn all the new code, you'll have access to tons of things you can do, and you'll benefit from each patch when they add new features, so definitely something to think about.

One of these days the other guys who also mod in FO will make a manual to make it easier for A2 modders to switch over.  One of these days.... :whistling:

Thanks for letting me know. I am usually not comfortable advertising on sites, even in signatures, however I did add it as it was requested.

I will consider it, however for a FO version I would need help and so far I am a way off doing a FO version as I want to get it out on standard A2 and get a few other smaller projects done, such as my Midway Modelling, my latest being a Dominion Fightercraft.
