that's correct, in TMP kirk thinks he can fire the refit enterprise's phasers while at warp, but he can't, as the phasers now draw power directly from the warp core, which is busy during warp. decker corrects him.
Squire James wrote:Also, and this is only conjecture, whilst DS9 had torpedo tubes, if memory serves on one episode they are "stolen" and the area they go missing from is a regular, ordinary cargo bay. Now, call me Mr Picky, but I wouldn't go storing sensitive antimatter warheads in a cargo bay any more than i'd store 155mm shells in a store cupboard. You should have a magazine, arsenal or whatever you want to term it, a secure armoured room so that people can't just wander in, and any explosion is contained as much as possible.
yes that's in the tribunal episode, where the photons are "found" aboard o'brien's runabout by evek. perhaps photons are only filled with antimatter when ready for firing. it would explain reload time. the casings would still have engines and computers for aiming, which would be worth stealing.
that would remove the risk of having antimatter in different parts of the ship. the antimatter is just drawn from the 1 antimatter storage tank when needed either for engines or torps.
also the cargo bay in that episode was probably only shite because they didn't have the money to build a new set for a single shot.

That Telok class looks awesome, also the brown has really grown on me, looks great. I can't wait for your next update.
In the pilot didn't the station have only 6 photon torpedoes after the Cardassians left the station, but O'brien used some sort of sensor shadow trick to fool the Cardassians into thinking it was armed to the teeth? The Klingons in Way or the Warrior through they were again using the sensor shadow trick going to show Klingons must be smarter lol. Point being is if there were photons left over after the Cardassians left, then they obviously do use photons at least on their stations.
Not much of a DS9 fan here so correct me if I am wrong.

you're correct. i'd forgotten about those. yep, they fired 6 photons as a warning shot in that scene. then they tried the duranium shadows trick, to be fair to the cardassians, it didn't fool them either, the cardassian gul was probably happy to have an excuse to try delay a new war. they eventually fired on ds9 anyway.
i'm surprised the enterprise didn't leave ds9 with some more torps to defend itself with. perhaps fed and cardassian torps are too different.

Ah well, um okay I was wrong then
Either way though, torpedoes are not a common fixture when it comes to Cardassian weaponry.
I wonder if as Myles theorises, each race has deliberately modified the shape of their torpedoes so they won't fire from another races torpedo tube? (to stop an enemy using captured stocks of torpedoes. They'd have to drain the antimatter from them and put it in their own casings)

just remembered also worth considering is that the cardassians had access to quantum torps. either purchased or made themselves. they put these quantums on the smart missile dreadnought.

I thought so! Very cool. I'm learning to work with Maya myself, but I am lightyears behind what you can do. Keep up the amazing work man.

The Hutet will be in the mod but will probably have a few visual design changes. The Nor mining bases will most likely show up as well.

Hideki Destroyer

The Hideki is an old and versatile craft that has been in service of the Cardassian Military since the end of the 23rd century. Often used as escorts and border patrol ships, Hidekis were later deployed as fighter squadron command ships during the Dominion Wars. Though lightly armed and armored, large numbers of Hidekis can work in unison to take down many larger threats.

Offense 12
Defense 10
System 5
Weapon Range: Medium
Armaments:
1 Spiral Wave Disruptor (Forward Facing)
Special Ability:

Disruptor Snipe - The Hideki diverts all energy to its Spiral Wave Disruptor, increasing Offensive Value by 5 and making the vessel long ranged for seven seconds. The Defensive Value of the Hideki is reduced by 5 and movement speed is reduced while the effect lasts.
Suvart Battleship

The Suvart Battleship is a slow command ship usually used as a mobile base of operations for Breen invasions. Armed with a large payload of weapons and a massive disruptor beam on the far bow of the ship, the Suvart excels at destroying large and well defended targets such as turrets and bases.

Offense 47
Defense 35
System 21
Weapon Range: Medium
Armaments:
1 Breen Massive Disruptor (Forward)
3 Breen Heavy Disruptors (6 mounts, Omni)
1 Breen Torpedo Launcher (5 mounts, Omni)
Special Ability:

Volley Countermeasures - Non beam weapon miss rate increases by 50% on up to five Small sized ships around the Suvart Battleship for five seconds. Non beam weapon miss rate increases by 25% on up to five medium sized ships around the Suvart Battleship for five seconds.

Fantastic work mate, love the backstory for each class you're posting up. I had always thought of the Hideki as a newer design but you're probably right in that it's an older one considering it's uses in DS9 as fighter, shuttle and corvette roles.
I'm looking forward to your next update.

Time for both races to get their scouts:
Nerok Scout

The Nerok currently serves as a swift scout unit for the Cardassian Fleet. Lightly armed and armored but fast, the Nerok can sweep along enemy borders and gather detailed information on enemy fleet movements.

Offense 3
Defense 8
System 3
Weapon Range: Medium
Armaments:
1 Spiral Wave Disruptor (Omni)
Special Ability:

Deactivate Systems - The Nerok deactivates all of its systems except for sensors and basic life support. Nerok's mini map signature vanishes and enemies must force target the Nerok in order to attack it while special ability is active.
Bython Surveyor

The Bython Surveyor is likely the oldest ship design in the Breen fleet, with edivdence of their operations dating back to the 22nd Century. Considered the Breen's exploration vessel, the Bython is more heavily armed then other scouts and is often used to raid and commandeer mining ships.

Offense 9
Defense 11
System 3
Weapon Range: Medium
Armaments:
1 Breen Disruptor (Forward)
Special Ability:

Sensor Ghost - The Bython creates a series of moving units on the enemy's mini map across the entire sector, giving the impression of Breen activity. Enemy ships will attempt to fire at sensor ghosts if their signatures move into weapons range.

The Breen surveyor you mentioned as being operational during the 22nd century...
Would that be your take on this ship then? (allowing for 200 years of refits and upgrades) :-)

I was hoping someone would make the connection.
