good question, i dont see why it should not work, we dont use scalesod in fleet operations either way, so its untested

ok i done some testing and it is something to do with one of the lines in the borgs odf...

i set a federation ship to use a tactical cube as a base sod and set the scale to 3.0 and lets just say it was bloody terrifying, defo would of been assimiliated had i not quit  :borg:

now i guess the trick is to find what line is causing the issue...

UPDATE:

Suddenly ScaleSOD is working for any SOD so god knows why it didnt work on any borg units yesterday :)

Its weird, cus Ive added several ships, and I just have to hope they are the right size.  It is not just borg.  I think like optec said. It is un-tested.

ScaleSOD is an original command from Armada 1 and 2 so doesnt need testing an should always work :)

yea, but there are a lot things that have changed in fleet operations ;) some old stuff may not work as expected

I also have this problem, that the ScaleSOD is not working. Does anyone solve this problem in the meantime? It seams, it has no effect, no matter what ship I want to resize.

It drives me crazy. You´ve edit the sprites, get the models to work, edit the .odf an then... Sovereign with the size of an Intrepid!

Please help!

thx

as we dont use that command its not high on our todo, but we will take a look at it sometime ^-^

In my opinion, it is important, because it´s like a great game reactivated, without a necessary command, needed for the big modding-community out there.  :(
Just to keep the game canon! The defiant is half the size of an intrepid, the intrepid half the size of a sovereign and so on....

Anyway, I keep on searching for this line in the ODF, which should be causing this! If you find the solution, please remember me !

thx for your reply

Apart from the ScaleSOD thingy, I'd be happy about any efforts (perhaps even by the FO team) to improve starship scaling.

I'd love to see Starfleet vessels closer to their correct sizes. For example a small Defiant class (would definitely not be too small to be usable, the Venture is already smaller, I think): A small Defiant class would be interesting concerning microing. Concentrating your fire on a moving Defiant would be more of a challenge as it would be harder to hit with the cursor.

I think the sizes on Ex Astris Scientia are pretty good:

I made something similar to get a feel for the Discovery class, but the other's on the image are based on the sizes given on EAS, too:

I agree! The scaling is very important for gameplay and modding. Remember, when a giant D'deridex Warbird decloakes in front of the Enterprise D, twice the size of the Galaxy? Or even the ugly Warbird Scimitar in Front of the Enterprise E in Nemesis.

Remember this on?
William Riker: Tough little ship. Worf: [incredulous] Little?

Scaling must be possible! There are realms of sites with ships-data, the fleet charts on Ex Astris are only one sample.

Scalesod just makes the model bigger or smaller than the size it was built at.

In the modelling program you can just scale the model itself, or when you build it, build it to the scale you want it, that way you don't NEED scalesod.

The problem is that, aside from a few ships like the Galaxy and Sovereign, most changed size each time they were shown.
