Vulcan avatar mod - looking for suggestions again

I got permission from Atolm to use his Vulcan ships so the mod is go.

I'm holding off actual any major works until 3.1.4 is released because as we understand that is going to change warp-in, and as I plan warp in to supply the Vulcan ships i want to see what 3.1.4 actually changes first.  I'm guessing 3.1.4 will be released some time before hell freezes over  :D

Still, this does not stop me planning what to do with all these lovely Vulcan ships.  I also have permission from Dan1025 to use his files from the Vulcan Full Race mod so i'll probably follow his descriptions and ideas for the ships basically but some changes will be necessary regardless to fit with FleetOps and to handle things like the ships ranking up to veteran.

So, basically open to suggestions, especially in the arena of special weapons which will perhaps give the Vulcan ships a Vulcan feel (unfortunately the famous Vulcan nerve pinch would not really be possible  :lol: ).  Sensor enhancements, disablers, etc are perhaps decent ideas, in fact, i probably will need to be careful that they don't end up too Romulan like to play.... Romulan like abilities combined with Federation shields... ouch!

Saying that, perhaps for the top Vulcan ship (battleship) there can be an ability similar to the Tavara's boarding party.  Vulcan's are suggested to be on average 3 times stronger than humans making them potentially strong boarding teams.

The warp-in ability may come from SFC and possibly (probably?) replace the standard Fed warp-in.  I'll try and make it so the chance of getting the stronger ships is small and if you get them and if possible make them count heavily against the warp-in cap.  Saying that, i will probably make the battleship vulnerable to destroyers or something similar so it will not be unbalancing if obtained as the first warp in.

The one major thing still not fixed is what area of Starfleet does this guy come from.... Medical got a lot of favour when I ran my poll, and a nice excuse to add the Olympus Class (which is apparently coming as a map object so I would have a model to use).  Still, not decided entirely yet.  I also need to think if this avatar gets any different buildable ships... i just need an excuse to make the Highlander Class buildable.  :rolleyes:

Just a little word of advice - I would start working on the mod as soon as you have time and not wait for any Fleet Ops releases, as you never know when they'll show up :)

Well, that to a certain extent.  There are certain things I can start on such as the Ship ODFs and weapons, build buttons, wireframes etc... actually quite a lot.  If by the time that lot is ready and there is still no hint of a patch release then it may make sense to intergrate the warp in changes and release.

However, i would think considering how much (or little) spare time I have to mod, the next patch will probably be out first anyway.
